Welp, that'll do it for this program for the foreseeable future.

When BSPN wonders why they get the rap of coastal biases, look no further than this show. A mentioned of 70 year old Steve Nash before anything about Chicago's situation.

Pshh please, SAS doesn't know ish right now. Nobody does.

We are still in this, folks.
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

Unless there's something more specific about this situation, it seems like he'd be considered to have 4 years with the Knicks for the purposes of a no-trade clause. Not sure, though.

I don't understand how the Bulls just got completely disregarded in this Melo discussion. This Lakers stuff popped up and then we are just completely gone from all possibility. It is mind-boggling.

KC omits Lance from the list of contingency plans :-?

Bulls management merely methodically kept working on contingency plans to improve whether or not Anthony comes.

Some of those have been documented. The Bulls met with Pau Gasol, who turned 34 Sunday, on Thursday in Los Angeles. They have begun preliminary negotiations with Nikola Mirotic, their 2011 draft-day acquisition who is now more likely to join the Bulls this season than next.

And they kept dialogue open with representatives for a multitude of small forwards should they fail to land Anthony. The Bulls have touched base with agents for Chandler Parsons, Paul Pierce, Shawn Marion, Luol Deng and Trevor Ariza, among others.

They also remain in the market for a backup point guard and have talked to representatives for Kirk Hinrich, D.J. Augustin and Ramon Sessions, among others. Though Derrick Rose, by all accounts, looks great in his full-court workouts, the Bulls hope to secure veteran backup help to take defensive and ballhandling pressure off him.

SAS is just talking about players and money. He never once talked about the basketball and winning aspect of it.

That's why nobody is talking about the Bulls. They don't understand how the cap works.

LeBron, Wade, Melo isn't winning a championship. They have no depth and no bigs. Especially if Melo and LeBron want max money.

Money wise, the Bulls can make it work. Winning wise, the Bulls have what it takes RIGHT NOW. It makes too much sense but the media, specifically the national media wants ratings and will talk out their @sses for it.

I think that was just a maybe-what-if scenario, nothing that was reported.

we were the favorites at one point, remember when all the national media guys were like "He should go to Chicago. Chicago is the best fit."

In the end, Phil will call Melo's bluff because it is a win-win situation for him. If Melo intentionally leaves, Phil knows that he will at least go and play for the team that is owned and run by his girlfriend, Jeannie Buss. Phil in the end can always say I offer him the max, but he just did not want to be here. In turn, Phil will get enough flexibility with the cap to build the team his way, which he had previously mentioned.

We signed the best FA available outside of the Big 3 (on the best deal) and picked up the best group of vet FA's. They also signed Boozer before the decision was made - so I'm not sure how they 'waited around'.

Amare, Lee, Scola, Gay, Joe Johnson, IMO were all better than Boozer. Boozer wasn't a bum but those guys were better all around players.

Amare had a degenerative knee condition.
Lee was not better than Boozer.
Scola? Please.
Gay? It's debatable at best - Gay is incredibly overrated.
Joe Johnson was our primary target but wasn't ever really on the FA market. ATL offered him the max of all maxes before FA even started.

Carlos was not the best FA. Injuries, money, etc means nothing to my point. Carlos was not the best after the big 3. All of the guys I listed were better all around players even Scola. David Lee was better in 2010 as well.

Its not a win-win if Phil gets nothing in return for Melo. How does Phil 'win' in that scenario?
