Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
So Marcin in Washington for another 5 years. To make it sweet here's great work by polish youtuber Piotr - 54 dunks by MG#4 in 2013/2014 season.

I know it's just a highlight reel (filled with many unopposed dunks), but anyone who thinks Gortat can't finish should look at this.

March is such a good screener. That's what makes it all go. And the team is full of good passers. Wall is ridiculous. That video is pick and roll porn.

Pick and roll porn for sure, and speaking of screens, I've had to clean mine once already.

I've tried to talk myself into being okay with the Gortat deal but I just can't. If everyone and their mom knew Gortat clearly wanted to come back, why did we have to give him that massive deal as if he was on his way out the door? Why not offer 5/55 at least, I'm sure he would have agreed.. that's still more money than he's seen in his career combined. Or make the 5th year non-guaranteed? Ughh
Anyways, Brad shouldn't be too sure about Ariza coming back..

True or False?
The Wizards did what a lot of teams would have done by overpaying to keep Gortat, one of their most reliable big men. They could have gotten him for a lot less than $60 million, as he had no intentions of leaving Washington, where he enjoys hanging out with his friends from the Polish Embassy. He has designs on going into politics when he retires. New York Daily News

I could see $11 million a year with the last year only partially guaranteed, so maybe $50 million total, but Bogut gets $12 million per and he can barely stay on court, and McGee gets $11 million a year and, well, I wouldn't want him.
$12 million isn't out of proportion for a player like him, even if it's more than I wanted to pay. Us FakeGMs always want to pay less. At a similar price (even slightly less, and with one less year) the opportunity to play in Miami and maybe win a ring might have sounded awful appealing. I don't know how many Poles are in Miami, but I'm sure Poles around the world would follow him pretty closely on a serious contender. If EG overpaid a little to head off a possible bid by the Heat, and to end up with a happy Gortat, that doesn't really sound like one of his bad moves, even if Gortat slips a bit toward the end of the contract.

Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
Its been beaten to death about his contract at his point, and I am by no means the biggest Gortat fan, but when the guy tries he's a very good borderline great center. When Nene went down last season he was producing very good numbers per36, 17-12 if I recall correctly. Now obviously I don't want him playing those kind of minute nightly, but I think he can produce enough to warrant the money he got if we maxmize his ability, in other words, give him some space to work with. Nene would be best suited as a 6th man I think. Only stretch 4s left I can think of are M. Williams and Earl Clark....don't think we can have either of those guys start too much though. Ed Davis or Humpries maybe as well. Point it, we made this investment, need to try to implement a gameplan that'll optimize Gortat's worth. Sooner the better too, I expect a decline after year 3.

Re: Marcin Gortat Polish Hammer appreciation thread.
Here is the thing, any and all contracts become tradable in there last year. If we can get 3 solid and healthy years out of him, then a little decline in year 4 I am ok with that. in my mind that would be a successful signing. because we can boot him to a different team in year 5 because it is almost a sure thing that some team will be looking for cap room at some point Or best case he is still some how still playing at a high level and all is well. we won't talk about worse case lol, we all know what that could be.

No one in Poland take Marcin's political ambitions seriously. You can't take it into account when you talking about his contract - there is no link. And you should take into consideration that american and polish politics (and way of promotion of people in politics) are very different. And although relations with USA are important for Poland, the polish embassy in USA have absolutely zero influence for polish political scene.

Well, yeah ... however, you must also remember that, despite everything, he doesn`t have to go towards the politics to act as politician. Propably his voice will be much more recognizable around Poland than any of those background politicians.
Anyway I`m happy he will stay in the DC. It will be funny to watch him and Wall again

Yes, it is true that this paragraph appeared on the New York Daily News website.
