Is letting Bosh go to Hou part of a plan to get Melo to Mia?

We've heard nothing about Melo being willing to take any sort of discount so I don't think it ultimately makes them better. Bosh + whatever FA signings they can makes with savings > Melo. Would be a bizare plan but anything is possible

I'd take Melo, resigning Allen/Lewis/Chalmers/Birdman/Haslam + MLE over Bosh & "$12" mil in FAs any day.

No it isn't. Not on talent, and especially not on miles. That's one major factor that gets overlooked. How many more times can this same core continue to make the Finals together? They already seemed worn down this year. Now is the time when you need to trade one of them for a fresh guy to reinvent and reinvigorate the team. That's the only way you can keep this going without running out of steam.

Bringing back the same Big 3 and expecting them to carry the team to a 5th straight Finals, with just a couple new role players added around them isn't logical.

Melo for Bosh makes the Heat worse, not better.

This. The make up of the team and playing with Lebron, Bosh is a better sidekick for him than Melo is. The point was to upgrade by addressing their weakness, not getting rid of one of their valuable pieces. Trading Wade for Melo would be an upgrade, however....

SAS seems to think so some what. Can't scoff at the dude as he was right about the big 3 signing in 2010.

I think Bosh is highly overrated but the Heat barely improve with Melo in his place. Lebron/Melo/Wade/Scrubs isn't doing much better against the Spurs in the Finals

Not to mention I don't think Bosh makes a move until Lebron does anyway

HOU should put a time limit on that Max offer for Bosh

Unless melo is a package deal with Gasol, it makes the Heat worse.

LOL at all the Cavs fans living it up this morning and now claiming flipping Bosh for Melo makes the Heat worse.

Hasn't Gasol basically said he's following Melo?

On top of all the reasons listed above. Bosh had to change his game so that he would fit Spo's game plan. Would Melo be willing to do the same? Would Melo be able to take Bosh's place as a decoy?

Some statements are so ridiculous they should result in a timeout, so the poster can sit in a corner and think about what he wrote.

I'm no Cavs fan but it kind of does. Had they replaced Wade with Melo then it'd make much more sense, but Bosh? That leaves them with no big and 3 ball dominant wing players. It definitely doesn't get them any closer to beating the Spurs.

Trading in your second best defender (maybe most important) for another mediocre defender does not make them better. They lost the finals due to defense, this does not make them any better.

You run Lebron/Melo - Lebron/Wade - Melo/Wade P&Rs all day, surrounded by shooters. Melo gives them an actual go to scorer that allows Wade to follow the Manu plan and give Lebron actual rest. Channing Frye can pretty much do what they asked Bosh to do.

If this is truly what is happening behind the scenes, it would explain all this delaying by Melo, and why LeBron refuses to meet with any team. Because he has no plans to play for any other team, and they are both just waiting for Bosh to GTFO so they can team up in Miami.

If they get McRoberts to replace him though, they won't be giving up a whole on defense at that position.

If defense is the only concern, usually you can get cheap defender role players to just come in and play good D and hustle. Paying Bosh max money for his defense and occasional 3 pt shot just seems unwise. Melo may not be a good defender, but he's a threat to score 35 every night. I think that outweighs the defense Bosh provides.

Important point on Bosh: He's waiting on direction from LeBron, source says, not the other way around.

BimboColes wrote:For the people arguing Melo is a bad fit, Miami couldn't have used his scoring in this years finals? What did Bosh put up, 10 points a game? If I were to put one player on that team in game 5, Melo would be in the discussion.

People aren't understanding that Melo would play the 4 not the 5. They'd bring in a Center to "replace" Bosh defensively. Anyone saying Bosh > Melo in general is nuts. Melo actually outrebounded Bosh by a large margin this season.

Well, I guess heat fans need something to hold on to 'til the very end.
So yes, yes it is.
