DMVLegend and I were a few to champion Drummond's case. Although, Beal has turned out better than I expected, I'd still pick Drummond over him.

Who knows? It might have necessitated moving Nene's awful contract and not trading for Gortat. Imagine the cap space we would have this offseason? Bosh/Drummond sounds like a championship caliber front court to me. Meeks could definitely plug in for Beal.

Detroit should run the triangle offense.

If SVG is envisioning Shaq with Drummond, then doesn't it make sense?

Right now I see SVG in the early stages of trying to recapture what he did in Orlando with Dwight. Build around Drummond. PnR heavy offense where the double comes down on Drummond and you're getting as many three point shooters around the perimeter as possible. Meeks is that first step, a JJ Redick type.

But to me, those Dwight Orlando teams were good but never a serious threat. The real threat would be if you think Drummond can be Shaq instead of Dwight, and you can build a triangle offense around him and feature a high quality perimeter player too.

Granted, Shaq scored 23 PPG as a rookie and 29 PPG as a sophomore. Drummond ain't Shaq. But Drummond also isn't playing in a league with the kind of big men young Shaq did.

I don't remember anyone saying Drummond at the time. This board was pretty much 65% Beal and that made sense after Ernie went all in on needing a SG. I would've traded down 2-4 spots and got something else or just taken MKG. He still can't shoot a lick but he's still only 20 years old and is turning into one of the top wing defenders.
