Alford's 2-2 so far tonight with his 4th SB so far at Lansing in just his 3rd game. Too bad this guy wouldn't commit full-time to baseball.

Chad Girodo is shaping up to be an intriguing bullpen prospect. He pitched a successful 3 inning save for Dunedin today.

He's posting an ERA just above 2.00 while his FIP and SIERA are even better, a K rate of 9.27 and a BB rate of 2.62.

He's never given up a HR in 43 appearances spanning 2 seasons.

Over his career, his FIP against LHB is 1.26 and his K rate is 14.35/9. He's a bit of a sidearmer like Loup that would probably make a decent lefty option in the pen. He's got good pedigree too, as a senior he was the closer for a Mississippi State team that went to the CWS.

Hopefully, he gets a promotion to AA soon.

He now has 4 hits tonight... How can we sabotage his football career?

Some guy on Battersbox says he Tweeted Alford telling him to play baseball full time and apparently Alford favourited his Tweet and replied saying "might be sooner than later", which he subsequently deleted.

Daltom Pompay was just on minor and majors on MLB radio network. Talked a bit about his base stealing and how it was very instinctive and that he feels alot of the reason for this is that he really picks his spots.,,, Mentioned that alot of his success in baseball is from his parents helping him out, pushing him to switch hit from the age of 2 and and his parents getting him alot of high level coaching when he was young.

Anthony Alford had his last scheduled game with Lansing. Now he goes off to get married and play football. (Hope his new wife reads him the riot act, that its baseball for you, guy).

He went out on an auspicious note, though in typical Toronto fashion I use the word with a bit of sarcasm. He fanned four times. (Then again, Mike Crouse of NH fanned five times today!)

For some better news, Andy Burns seems to be hitting his stride. Went 3-6 today at NH, with a homer and triple, walking off Trenton in the bottom of the ninth with that homer. He has nine homers now, and his play of late could get him a promotion to BUF before the season ends.

Speaking of pitching debuts, nice one at Bluefield by Evan Smith, last year's fourth round pick.

5IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 6K

Was solid in GCL, too, so this is encouraging

Andy Burns with the walk-off, right into an engagement.

Good for him... It's been a really rough season for him in NH, but after a solid June, he has a chance at least to finish on a strong note.

If he winds up starting next year in Lansing, he could be a bit of a sleeper. Extremely projectable and doesn't turn 19 until next month.

BP released their mid-season top 50.

Sanchez actually moved up two spots to 29
Norris slots in at 33 after missing the cut on the pre-season top 101

They don't included any prospects that are currently in the majors, hence no Stroman.

Sydergaard was 9 by the way.

Speaking of Norris, anyone know why he hasn't pitched since last Sunday?

NH had a couple of rainouts Thursday and Friday which kind of pushed everything back. Although that said, he's not listed on MILB.com as a starter today either, and NH has a double header, but take it with a grain of salt since MILB.com isn't always accurate for the projected starters.

Maybe they've decided to skip his turn in the rotation to try and limit his innings a bit, given that he's already only 8 off from last year's total?

I suspect the latter, no sign of injury or other issues.

That's exactly what it looks like, Milb shows him scheduled to pitch tomorrow

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
