Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 9s

New name, I'm told, has emerged on short list in Grizzlies' search for front-office addition: Chicago's Brian Hagen

that is not pennys here, if this is true i can see why he didnt agree to us right away, some people has said we did offer the max, and we had moves on the line to dump salary, thats bs , i feel is we offered carmelo the max he would have commit to us already.

#BullsTalk: Brandon Marshall wants everybody to shut up about Derrick Rose recruiting - http://bit.ly/1j9rZKh

"Who gives a **** if Rose is recruiting Melo? I'm recruiting Melo!"

"Everybody needs to shut up about that. It's not his personality," Marshall said. "Everyone knows D-Rose. Everyone knows D-Rose as a humble, quiet kid. He's not going to do anything that is beside himself. He's not going on Twitter - he's not on Twitter, period - so why would he go on Twitter and do that? Why would he go on any social network? Why would he go on ESPN or Fox Sports?

"That's not his thing. I'm sure he's had conversations quietly and he was there, but anything outside of that is not D-Rose. People need to sit back and accept people for who they are. I'm sure he's doing what he can, but as far as him stepping outside himself, it wouldn't be organic. It wouldn't be real."

I like the way he put that. Its just not his nature to be that outgoing and demonstrative.

Also....If LaLa is a business woman like they say she is.....she should know about all the money Melo will be making from the Jordan/Nike Brand. Plus winning on top of that. Melo would make money in Chicago too. On top of elevating his status as a player. #1 player on #1 team in the East.

Man after 20 Melo threads...people still don't know what we offered Melo.

Bulls offered Melo his max via a sign and trade, according to local guys. National dudes keep saying we can't offer more, even though that's technically true.

Anyone else think that SAS opinion that Bosh is the domino that LBJ and Carmelo are waiting for is BS? Miami doesn't need Bosh to accept any other offer since he opted out. They can go after Carmelo and LBJ right now and bring back wade on a reduced deal. I was surprised that SAS would say something so completely inaccurate. Seems to me no one knows whats going on except Carmelo and it will stay that way until he decides to make a decision.

No, they should have had that done weeks before we even had a chance to talk to Melo. And I'm sure the avenues to clear up space or whatever we need to do wouldnt be very difficult anyway

Trust me Melo, you'll be just as happy as me when you see the faces of Laker and Knicks fans if you come to Chicago. There's no better feeling than a bitter New Yorker

Anyone remember this? It was from back in January.

La La Anthony "definitely" thinks her husband, free-agent-to-be Carmelo Anthony, will re-sign with the New York Knicks this summer.

"I definitely think he will stay," La La Anthony said in an interview with Bravo TV's "Watch What Happens Live." "I know that he wants to stay, and I support him wherever he wants to go.

"Listen, I used to live in Denver with him. If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere. I just want him to be happy."

Carmelo Anthony says he will test free agency this summer. He is under contract through 2014-15 but can opt out after this season.

Under the collective bargaining agreement, the Knicks can offer him a maximum contract of $129 million over five years. Other suitors can offer Anthony a maximum of $96 million over four years.

La La Anthony playfully mocked those who speculate that she will have a heavy influence on her husband's decision.

"I get blamed for everything. No matter what happens, it's my fault," she said. "[There are] all these talks if he's staying in New York or not, [and] I'm somehow the mastermind behind if he stays or not."

The Knicks (17-27) have performed well below expectations this season. That has led some to speculate that Carmelo Anthony will take less money and sign elsewhere this summer.

One potential destination is Los Angeles. The Lakers are among several teams, including the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks, that may have the requisite salary-cap space this summer to sign Anthony.

Kobe Bryant, a friend of Anthony's, said Sunday that he will not be actively recruiting the Knicks forward to join the Lakers.

"Well, everybody wants to play in Los Angeles," Bryant said when asked about Anthony's potential interest in joining the Lakers. "I mean, New York is a beautiful place, don't get me wrong, but it is colder than s--- out here. You know, palm trees and beaches obviously are a little more appealing.

"All jokes aside, I think that players, when that time comes, will have to make the best decision for them and their families. I try not to think about it too much. If he wants to call me for advice later as a friend, I will be more than happy to give it to him."

Bryant pointed out that one way for Anthony to be viewed as more than just a scorer is to win a title.

"The only way to do that is win," Bryant said. "That's it. I won five championships, and there's some of you guys [who] still say that. You just got to take it and roll with it. The important thing is winning a championship. That's the only way to shake it. That's the only way Michael [Jordan] shook it. That's the only way any top scorer will be able to shake it."

Anthony, who is in his 11th season, said Monday that his sole motivation is to win an NBA title.

"That's the only thing I care about. Anything else is irrelevant to me when it comes to basketball," he said. "Championship is the only thing that's on my mind, is the only thing I want to accomplish, I want to achieve, and I'm going to do what I got to do to get that. That's my motivating factor. Nothing else even motivates me anymore, just that."

We can't offer Melo the max. Has to be worked out in an S&T. No one really knows what we offered him, or even if we made an offer. We need Melo to decide he wants to play here, then we can try to clear salary or make an S&T happen with NY. I think if we need to, we will clear the space to get him what he wants.

Last year we won 48 games with no Rose. Just adding Melo to that team with no Rose gives us a good 56-60 wins.

an NBA season is how many months? plus half the season your traveling anyway..on La La's side how many movies/tv shows are actually filmed in LA? less than half? they got plenty of money for a house in LA, New York and Chicago and its not like they have to live year round for the rest of their lives in which ever city their teams is in anyway...money is one thing when considering a deal, location shouldn't be considered as big of a deal as Money and chance a winning but it seems to be..,

Return to Chicago Bulls
