It's pretty much the main reason why Melo is considered good right now. Shooting 3s at a high percentage made him into a much more efficient scorer.
If there's one thing we can say D'antoni did good for Melo it was emphasizing more 3 point shots, Mel should be grateful for that.
So are we saying Melo bought in to a coach's system?
Melo buys in when he's the centerpiece of the offense. He wants to win, but only on his terms. The terms are the freedom to take 20-25 shots/game, of which a number of them are isolations. That's why Chicago is a good fit for him. Noah, Taj and Butler can do the defense and dirty work so that Melo can focus on scoring.

Sure. It's my personal subjective opinion that players who understand how to play the game with seriousness and unselfishness, and who and aren't knuckleheads, have a much better chance of being part of great teams -- like the players R.C. Buford picks up for the Spurs -- than fools like J.R. Smith who are talented but terrible and can't play a major role on any great team.
Here are some objective benchmarks: If you think it's funny to untie the opponent's shoes during a game, or have been hit with a drug suspension, or have made a negative comment in the media about your coach, you're less likely to win a championship than a player who hasn't done those things.
"*I* don't like JR Smth" would have been much more succinct.
But less informative. These are objective things I noted that I would bet a lot of money make a player less successful. Black and white.
"I would bet a lot of money" is just another way of saying "in my opinion."
And while you're point out "objective" things, your application of those things in regards to what effect they'd have on a team is pure subjective conjecture.

Lin's the most exciting Knicks player for over a decade, so Melo vs. Lin will never die

Where the **** did the guy in the white tshirt go??
The hospital, for being a jackass.
The driver of the boat, Marvin Carter, III of Memphis, TN suffered moderate injuries and a blow to his wallet as well. He’s being cited for speeding and imprudent operation of the boat. Five of the seven people on board were hospitalized, four of them with moderate injuries including broken bones.
The video never gets old. It's one of the greatest viral videos the internet has ever seen, from the actual slamming of bodies, to the fact that they were speeding and reckless, to the mother/daughter duo trying to stand around looking hot knowing the camera was watching...and then getting totally f*cked up for their vanity. Watching the purple bikini girl trying to deal with the aftermath makes me giggle every time.

No, he's not, and no, I'm not going on this ride with you. I know you for who you are.

Re: MeloDrama Part VI
My point was not about Lin or J.R. primarily. That's tangential. The issue is that Melo thinks he knows more about the game of basketball than he does. Thinking Chicago is some great alternative (if he does think that, which I don't know at all) would be further proof of that.
And in the back of my mind, I wonder/fear whether what Melo really doesn't like about New York is that Phil has full control and has a philosophy of basketball that he's not interested in adapting to. A theory that history shows us is the best theory, that is the foundation of great teams.
We may have seen this as far back as the HBO interview a couple of years ago, before Phil was in charge and spoke candidly about the Knicks: "Melo can't hold the ball," Phil said.

Melo is being challenged by Phil while every other team is kissing his ass. I just assumed Melo would welcome the challenge of a new system and rebuilding the basketball culture in NY, but that's looking pretty naive.

Because he should be unless there is a better offensive player on his team. Melo wants offensive help. I think Chicago would be great only if Rose is playing.
I think Melo would love to play for the Spurs. And Pop would make it work. Have Melo shine along with the team.

The GIF doesn't show the bump leading up to it, either. It's like a slow buildup and then dude just gets yanked to the floor.

This line of thinking is how fans think. Clearly Lebron didnt care about that. All that stuff is secondary.
It's money, potential for success, and comfort.

your sig answers your own question.
I just don't know that I see Lebron playing mind games with the fans of the Cavs after what took place before. You know what I mean?
what I actually see is lebron baiting other superstars to take a max so he can have an excuse to stay in Miami. he needs to look serious as if he is talking to other teams. the question is what is his endgame... he wants rings and legacy so he likely wants supporting cast guys rather than overinflated stars. so I think he bosh and wade take less than max and sign gasol and collision this summer

i don't think that would be true. he is just a different kind of player, not a system player. although Pop probably would make it work, because he is that good.
the knicks could have worked with d'antoni if he had bought in into the system, but he didn't. immediately after woodson took over, with the team playing exactly the same d'antoni system but melo putting in effort, things worked. then the more we moved from the remnants of d'antoni to woody iso-melo ball, the more we sucked
