Thomas is a bad defender. All of his defensive stats (advanced) are quite lacking and judging by the eye-test he doesn't look good as a defender either. I wouldn't count Wade's defensive consistency/intensity going forward either. I don't know about you but I think a backcourt of Wade/Thomas/Napier/Allen is going to be a mess defensively.

Overall, Thomas gave up 0.83 PPP on 37.7% shooting, which puts him in the top 20% among NBA players. In isolation, he was a little better -- 0.76 PPP on 32.6%. He was good defending the PnR ball handler -- 0.73 PPP on 37th, which is about top 12-13%. And he held spot up shooters to 34.4% shooting and 0.89 PPP. Those are all soldi numbers. The Kings defense gave up 4.3 points per 100 possessions fewer when Thomas was on the court than when he was off it. His opponent counterpart's PER was below average. So no, his advanced defensive stats are not all lacking.

Dude, you don't need advanced stats to prove that Thomas isn't a bad defender. NBA players don't pick on midget players 8-) but believe me, if Thomas was a Heat, THEY WILL!!!

Don't really understand your post. Few PGs have a game that will take advantage of a height advantage as few have any kind of post skills. Thomas was posted up for just 30 FGAs last year -- roughly once every 3 games. And its not that they can just shoot over him because they don't do that all that effectively.

I wake up 8 hours later & we've signed McBob to the MLE & Granger to the BAE. This says Big 3 are back to me. Fcuk what everyone's sources say!

Hopefully they see this as a step & take a discount like proposed on the previous page, so we can sign a couple more players - or maybe S&T someone for the TPE we've got.

In 2010, LeBron committed to Miami with only 1 player on the roster. LBJ Wade and Bosh all signed at the same time, and then sat back and watched Riley fill the roster.

So LeBron is capable of trusting Riley. And we can all agree that Riley has proven he can keep recruiting guys, like Battier, Allen, Birdman, etc....

So I think the reason LeBron and Wade haven't committed yet, is because there is a secret plan in place... they are staying in Miami. The question is - what is the plan? Personally, I smell Carmelo Anthony to Miami. Whether that means Bosh is here to make a Big 4, or Bosh goes to HOU and we have a new Big 3.

@IraHeatBeat: Figure on Riley-LeBron summit within next 24 hours, and likely not in Miami.

Salary cap = 63.5

Wade = 13
Bosh = 17
Lebron = 17
Haslem = 2 (strech contract to 3 years)
Cole = 2
Napier = 1
Full MLE cap hold - renounced
Mcbob = 5
Granger (TPE)
Cap holds = 2.5

total = 59.5

Free cap space = 4 Mil.

Could net us another decent player. If we move Cole or get Haslem to take the vet min, or big 3 take bigger discount, could go up to 6-7 Mil for another player.

im not an nba numbers expert but when you make these projections do you not take into account going into the luxury?

just curious not criticising your post in any way, or is that not possible

Why would I? the Luxury tax threshold is projected to be around 77 Mil, we're nowhere near it.

i meant as in we have more than 63 million to sign players

Ennis and Hamilton I would not count on producing next year in the NBA finals, etc. Rotation gets tight deep in playoffs.

If heat do not add at least one impact player like Gasol, Deng or Ariza they are risking it next year.

I don't like giving the MLE to a player like McBob because now the heat won't be able to get an impact player. They have to hope they can get a few bigs like Humperies, Patric Young, Jordan Hill and Emeka in order to compete.

Might not mean much taking Macro as an elective I've followed the stock market and Arison sold nearly 500 million in stocks over the past 4 months. Around that time he also stated that he was 100% sure the Big 3 would stay. Sure seems committed.

If you put things into perspective and how the market had gotten inflated, yes McRoberts for 5.75mil or whatever it was is a good deal

Granger agreeing to us confuses me, I wanna know his thinking and if other teans were after him AND if they offered him more

why?

we made it comfortably to the finals without them

we got absolutely zero from chalmers/cole and wade played pretty bad as well as bosh vs spurs

why do you think we need another player of that quality to win?

give me some actual reasons all ive seen you say since you signed up here is negative sh** about the heat

Does the McRoberts signing say were still going to play the same defense that got so exposed in the finals?
