I think they opt out to restructure their deals so they can be under the lux tax and have the Full MLE instead of a partial MLE for the repeat tax payer and have the BAE.

My question is can Riley sign Bosh and Lebron to an extended contract, but offer Wade the 2 year 40 million plus he was owed? I'm asking because I think they all opted out assuming they thought could get a bigger name. Now that it seems that isn't going to happen, It would almost seem better to pay Wade his 40 million over 2 years instead of owing him something like 13 million in his fourth year.

Either way he was opting out for a longer deal. If we don't sign anyone else to big money I would think they give him more over 4 years than he was expecting to cut too.

That's not going to happen.

He'll pay the tax but he won't go above and beyond like some other owners would with this kind of team.

I hope gasol and melo go to NY

Will be fun to be them in the playoffs again

Looks like gasol has loyalty to Phil and melo has loyalty to money disguised as belief in Phil

And why is that? What kind of guy goes to the Heat?

Old guys closing in on late 30s. LOL

Gasol seems like a loyal guy, the type to remain with Kobe or go with Phil Jackson. The main point is he is likely to stick with what he knows and make the money. Riley is batting 0 right now. There is a reason why he cannot get impact players here. I also think Gasol will not sign unless he knows Lebron is there and it appears that Riley doesn't even know himself.

Then why do you have the Thunder listed a possible destination? They have no ties to Pau or the Lakers. You're talking about contenders yet there's nothing the Lakers can do this season to make the playoffs or get out of the first round. What are you basing your info off of? Twitter?

Riley can't get impact players due to lack of money. That's it. We've had no problems in the past getting players to come here. What are you talking about?

Not 1 number 1 pick, not 2 number 1 pick, not 3 number 1 pick, not 4 number 1 pick...

Well we've gotten Wiggins in the draft, resigned Kyrie, and hired a coaching duo of Blatt and Lue (both of whom I believe are far better than Spoelstra) so I'd say this offseason has been pretty successful thus far.

Oh, but Danny Kneeless Granger and Josh McRoberts are pretty good too. I'm sure Lebron is dying to play with those two massive talents.

I don't think he was going to opt out either way. He's pretty much guaranteed another contract with the Heat after two years anyways, so I doubt he'd be losing out on that much money or that many years if he could sign a 2 year deal for the amount he opted out of.

Pushing what? I think he is a great fit next to Lebron with his shooting stroke and passing ability. Chill.

Never to the Lakers. Wade's Heat for life. He can get a shot at the title in Miami.

If LBJ and Bosh both abandon Miami (they won't), then Pat should give Wade a Kobe contract, full max out with all the trimmings and then try to compete with Wade at the helm as he rides out his career here.

Wade retires here.

In the unlikely event LeBron/Bosh leave.

Wade needs a front loaded contract on his 4 year deal. There is no way you do Wade, the man who SAVED THE FINALS in 06, BROUGHT LEBRON in 2010, and was apart two championships in 4 years (as mentioned another one years before) wrong.

He deserves it. No short cutting a deal since LeBron is gone or none of that BS. Give Wade a lot of cash.

But again....the other two arent leaving.

The fact that Riley signed McRoberts shows me Gasol is a longshot.

Also that Gasol clearly wants around 10 mil which heat don't have. Also Gasol is likely to go with Melo as it was reported he would sign with lakers if Melo does.

Still on edge.

Still leaning Cavs.

Though I commend Riley - really working against a stacked deck and hard odds.
