We lost a (now extremely overpaid) one-trick pony, who's trick can be replaced.

That is the question, can it be replaced? If it could, I doubt he gets $8 million at his age. There was so much more to Frye's presence on the floor. Some fans(obviously gms too) saw it. I may have been frustrated with him at times, but he made the team better, and it's silly not to want a guy like that.

If everything he did can be replaced, cool, but if not, it's a big step backwards.

To put it in perspective, Frye is now making more than Goran. That Ish Cray.

Im not really bothered if his 150+ threes can be replaced completely, if the alternative is keeping Frye at 8mil Per. Thats Josh Childress levels of idiocy

Remember when Frye first became a Sun, he wasnt a known three point shooter; but he had a nice stroke. If Frye could develop three point range in an offseason, I'm convinced someone else can too.


Since we talkin'about alternatives, heres a few players off the top of my head that can take Frye's role: (if needed)

Amir Johnson:
Took 1 three a game last season, hitting at 30%, which is pretty ordinary, but brings solid defence and shot blocking to the table.

Ryan Anderson:
Obvious replacement for Frye's role. Basically a white Channing Frye who's superior in all areas of the game

Pero Antic/Vitor Faverani
Cheap Euro vets with range

Ersan Ilyasova:
Frye's new contract makes his look like a bargain. I would be on board with bringing this guy on, especially since the market value for stretch 4's has just balooned. Plus, he isnt a One Frye-Pony either.

With our two guard attack, we need spacing, not a guy that will clog the lane. Changing our offense didn't work very well under Porter, and I don't want to revisit that.

Amare was not a low post player. He was a face up player, who relied on his first step to get by guys. He had almost zero post game. With his year off, he developed an outside shot.

Except for the Euro guys, won't we have to give up assets to get the other guys you mentioned? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? That would be like taking a cork out of one hole to plug up another.

I think we will try MkMo to replace Frye. I hope he is up for the task, and doesn't lose the inside stuff he worked on last year.

Right, but the moves have yet to be made. Meaning there is a reason for the wait. Regardless, he's going to be a Cav.

If you want a positive, it's the fact that nothing has happened with Bledsoe. Nothing. We have heard an offer sheet from Milwaukee was forthcoming, and then nothing. Then information comes out from Bledsoe's agent, and/or the Suns that they are in early negotiations, and then nothing. Signing Bledsoe before signing free agents limits what the Suns can do cap-wise. So silence on that front is a major positive in a number of ways, including the fact that Bledsoe likely wants to be here and the fact that he is working in concert with the Suns to bring a major player to the Valley.

Or the fact that his agent is focusing solely on his other big FA right now and is going to deal with any Bledsoe meetings later.

But I do agree...it seems like there would be more rumors or something about possible teams wanting to meet with him, so the fact there has been nothing is a very good sign.

I think we have Brown in the summer league squad, but rumor has it, he will play in Europe.
