Its not a supermax, it's his max, and no, no one is.

No rebuild method will be a sure thing. Each path is fraught with obstacles and imperfections and uncertainties and good fortune and luck will be required.

This included rebuilding around a maxed Melo. Not a perfect option. Not a sure thing by any means.

Okay, there. Its on record.

So stop with the hyperbole and the strawmen.

Is this serious? You asked if we can rebuild without the 2016 pick. And I said yes. Pages back already.

I didn't ask you if you can. I asked you if it's a major impediment or not?

Yes or no?

The response:

Moose wrote:
suicidedeuce wrote:Knicks no longer own the 2016 pick. Is a proper rebuild even an option at this point?

Yes.

So your answer is no. Not having a draft pick isn't problematic when want to build through the draft.

Fair enough.

Hyperbole is a last resort. Surely you know what.

Can you just acknowledge NOT having a 2016 draft pick is a major impediment to a rebuild through the draft plan.

Anyone confident should be able to answer than question directly without trying to qualify it with hyperbole.

This coming from the person who said we can't rebuild because we don't have a 2016 pick...but also says draft picks, the lottery pick of MCD, and young prospects like Mirotic are sh*t.

Really?

You can't answer a fair, direct question and you now you're making things up?

And then this. Not making things up:

And if we S&T Melo to the bulls for 3 firsts: sac pick, cavs swap, another first rounder, a second rounder, mirotic, and mcd, would you feel different?

Not in the least.

Do you see a franchise player there anywhere? I don't.

basically, i think riles needs to net a big fish to bring lebron back, he doesn't do that, i think lebron bolts for cleveland, i think it's possible that melo joins him there. if he really wants to win he'd want to play with lebron.

We aren't moving Amare to acquire Boozer

The only reason i would bring that up is to get more assets from Chicago, Amare is not in our long term plans, if we could move Amare and in the process to obtain more assets from Chicago for taking Boozer could make some sense.

KnicksGod wrote:I definitely disagree with the idea that we can't do a traditional rebuild because we lack a 2016 pick. 1 pick is not make or break to that strategy working. If you got the top pick in the draft in 2015 and there's a surefire stud available, you'd be well on your way.

The fact that picks are hard to turn into great players kind of weighs against suicide's argument. 1 pick is not a huge piece of the overall puzzle.

Waitaminute.

So picks are hard to turn into great players?

Doesn't that reasoning apply to 2015?

Isn't that an argument against trying rebuild through the draft?

It is *an* argument against building through the draft. But it's not an argument that means building through the draft, and with cap space, is doomed to fail.

And not having a pick in one year certainly does not foreclose that as a viable path. What you'd essentially be saying is that the Spurs drafting Cory Joseph or James Anderson, or the Thunder/Sonics drafting Saer Sene, should have meant that their ability to contend was derailed. But we know that to not be the case.
