I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm not doubting, but PLEASE elaborate.
I dont know about better, but after reading some articles about frye it appears that many belive his defense is a little underrated. Certainly thats not a very detailed analysis but i cant do the research at work. People see a 3pt shooting big man and assume he cant defend, hes at least a capable post defender.

I agree, although I think KOQ improves again this season, and he ends up the better defender

I haven't looked up his synergy stuff, but I did finds some things on NBA.com and Draftexpress. Channing allowed only 52% shooting around the rim on 6.5 attempts by opponents. From what I can gather that is above average for PF's and about average for a good C. He is not a shot blocker per se, but doesn't get scored on easily. I would make the argument that he was Suns 2nd best rim protector behind Miles Plumlee.

His length is a major factor on the help side according to the Suns fans. At his draft combine he measured at 6'10.5 in shoes, had a wingspan of 7'2.5" and a standing reach of 9'2.5" and he weighed in at 244lbs. Those are great measurements for either big man position. This length also helps him finish well at them and shoot over help.

I think one of the most obvious improvements on our team besides added versatility is the size of our lineup. We routinely played lineups with Jameer at PG, Afflalo at SF and Tobes at PF. While they could those positions, they always had a size disadvantage. Throw in Jason Maxiell and Etwaun and we had a really undersized team outside of Vuc. Now, outside of maybe Ben Gordon, our players measure out as either league average and most are well above league average. Size is a major part of why teams win and now we have it at every position while improving our floor spacing and versatility.

I hate to say this, but I have a feeling that Tobias is going to be traded.

Can't elaborate too much because I'm at work, but basically if you look up KO's advanced defensive numbers they are not as good as people think. He has the label of a rugged shot blocker but that just means he blocks 2 shots. Defense is about more than just blocks and steals. For example, Monta Ellis gets 2 spg, but I would take prime Shane battier over him on defense. Channing is a 3 point shooting big so people assume he can't play defense (stereotype), but in reality he is a capable defender. 52% at the rim is pretty good. He won't block a lot of shots, but he will make the right rotations, take the charge, help out when needed. Those things don't show up in the box score, but they make up 90% of "good defense"

I think harkless, Nicholson, and oquinn have better chances of getting dealt. Tobias is here to stay.

I don't see that at all... I mean i'm not suggesting he's untouchable but it would have to be a pretty impressive player.

We just signed the kid's cousin, and our offense is about to become all about transition ball and getting to the line... his skills align perfectly with the direction we're going.

I think most people here would single out nicholson as on the chopping block, he might be to slow for an uptempo system, and a defensive liability at the moment -- his only chance to stick on this team I think is if his 3 point shot becomes consistent, and I really don't like seeing him shooting 3s knowing how good his post game is. Its probably best for both parties if he goes somewhere else -- but I think he's going to become a heluva player down the line once he can play passable defense.

Tobias is here to stay. Harkless / Nicholson are up to debate.

For those mad that KOQ is getting kicked back to 5-10mpg, well he mainly looked good because other players were not playing while the Magic were getting blown out each game. He wasn't some defensive monster stopping opposing teams while most players that would get those 30mpg on a team getting blown out could put up similar stats. I like KOQ, but he really is just a role player that may or may not stick in the NBA. He is a far cry from starting caliber or even BBD status yet unless he really develops more abilities over the next few years.

I'm not so sure, and I don't know how I feel. Here's what effects this choice for me:

1st, is Harris a 3 or 4?
2nd, is A. Gordon a 3 or 4?

How this is answered by Henny will set up the future.
1. IF Harris is a 3 (who he will guard) and Gordon is a 3, I'll be surprised if Harris stays.
2. IF either one of them can guard the 4 as a primary position, I think Harris and Harkless can both stay, Then O'Quinn becomes a bit expendable.

I tend to lean in the 1st scenario, but I don't think anything happens until the trade deadline, to give the players/team a chance to sort it out. Unless Rob is able to sell Harris as 'Melo lite to either team losing the bidding war and gets a bunch in return before the season starts.

I wouldn't be completely surprised if Harris was dealt. He is on his last year, and if the Front Office doesn't want to pay him 7-8 mil a year moving forward it might be good to get some value for him.

Does anyone feel that we signed Frye because of teams like Golden state were looking at him as a fall back to getting Love? Would he be a target for GSW at the deadline? What if he was traded to the Warriors or another team looking for a good stretch 4 at the deadline?

Signing Frye also means we get to see if Harris will work at the 3 long term. In two years when Gordon is ready, we'll know a lot more about how he and Harris fit.

Sorry but I don't see any way A. Gordon starts. I don't think he gets many minutes to start the season either.

IMO, the Frye signing cements this starting lineup:
Payton
Oladipo
Harris
Frye
Vucevic

However, there'll probably be a ton of outrage by Magic fans regarding the fact that our NUMBER FOUR pick in the draft isn't starting. IDK, but JV has a lot of lineups to play around with.

I agree that this is the most likely lineup...however I could see it being Dipo and Fournier with Payton coming off the bench to start the season.

As far as the number 4 pick coming off the bench...I really don't get the outrage by some over this proposition. Have people already forgotten that Dipo only started 44 games and was the number 2 pick. Doesn't look like his growth has been stunted from that, at all.

For some reason, I think Oladipo may start at PG because the Magic already have (3) SG's in Green, Fournier and Ben Gordon. And, I seriously doubt you want to see what happens when BG gets a few DNP's around here.

I think the board will collectively breathe a sigh of relief if Gordon is getting DNP CD's. The big question is how Ben Gordon handles it.
