Crazy trade w Boston
We know they want to get rid of Wallace's big salary, and since they have Smart, it looks like they would move on from Rondo. WE want to get rid of Jennings, whose salary is not much different than Wallace's. mmmm.
Boston out: Rondo (13M), Wallace (10M, 10M)
Detroit out: Jennings (8M, 8M), Jerebko (4.5M), Datome (2M), Bynum (3M)
I don't know if that is quite enough to balance (23M v 17.5M), but it jettison's a lot of crap off our roster. I know Wallace is not what he used to be, but I'm sure he'd still work his ass off. And Rondo >>>> Jennings

Re: Crazy trade w Boston
I think they could trade that same two players for a much better return elsewhere. Also I suspect the plan is for Rondo to mentor Smart for the bulk of the season, with the Celts maybe looking to trade Rondo at the trade deadline. Also Smart can play the 2-guard can't he, with Rondo having the length to guard the SG spot in a Rondo-Smart back court.
What about Smith and his three years for Wallace and his two years. If Boston has decided to keep Rondo and play to win than adding Smith to be their starting PF could help them both in keeping Rondo and in winning more ball games.

If you thought our team had shooting woes last year, please now imagine what a Smart+Rondo backcourt would do

Re: Crazy trade w Boston
I don't think that the Celtics are in a particular hurry to get cap space. And they always asked for the moon in Rondo trades, remember how much they were asking the Kings to give them for Rondo? It was like multiple picks+McLemore. No way do they deal Rondo to dump Wallace.
Besides, I'm not that thrilled with Rondo. He hasn't lead an elite offense, he didn't look good coming back from injury, and he can't shoot much (he has a short range jumper that works, but that's not the floor spacing we need). I believe that Rondo's offensive impact is greatly oversold and that the actual asking price will be far too high.

I believe the discussion goes like this:
You want Rondo? We want Monroe and KCP before we'll even have this discussion, you still on the line? Okay great, now we understand you want to move Jennings and we're willing to take on the rest of his deal, but you have to take Green and Wallace off our hands. You still there?
As a pistons fan would you take Green, and Wallace's contract and give up KCP and Monroe just to get Rondo?
Rondo/Bynum/Siva
Meeks/Singler
Green/Wallace/Datome/Martin
Smoove/Jerebko/Mitchell
Drummond/Gray

These Rondo trades are useless unless someone realistically thinks Rondo will resign with us and not be a one-year rental.

If we want Rondo we could go after him next year in free agency and then we could easy trade Jennings with 1 year on contract.

Ever since Ainge robbed Minnesota of Kevin Garnett, he's employed completely unrealistic expectations on how much he should get back in trades. That's why the Nets were the only team who would pony up his asking price for Pierce and Garnett.

He's offering up what basically amounts to Marcus Smart / Kelly Olynyk / some random mid-late 1sts for Kevin Love. If some guy did that in your fantasy league you'd send him an email telling him to cut it out.

That's straight robbery and won't happen as another team could easily give more. We'd have to add Moose to that deal, and Ange is going to insist it be dre.

Thread delivers what it promises, I'll give it that.
No incentive for Boston. They'd want picks and the like in such a deal in addition to shedding Wallace.

Isn't rondo and smith friends? Maybe he would stay if he could play with smith.
