Bucks looking at Bledsoe, probably.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
People really need to understand that last year's team was a perfect (terrible) storm of events that led to us winning only 15 games. Everything on and off the court was a disaster, Drew's rotations, roster composition, horrible team chemistry, injuries, lack of talent, and under utilization of what little talent we did have.
I'm not going to speculate just how many games this team will win next year, but you'd have to be incredibly naive to think that we won't at least see modest improvement with adding an NBA-ready talent like Jabari and with a coach who actually understands matchups and competent rotations. Which again, brings me to two questions with which no one in the "avoid Bledsoe" camp has yet to answer:
1) What are the odds that we can acquire a similar talent with a "likely" mid lotto pick (7-12 Randle -Stauskas territory this year)?
2) If Jabari and Giannis aren't good enough yet to drag us out of a bottom 5 record, then how is adding a 24 year old PG with one season's worth of starter's experience going to do so?

I get the east is bad...but I have trouble seeing how more than 6-7 teams will be worse than us next year.

when was the last time or even how many times..... has a team gone from worst in the league to outside of the bottom 10 the next?
has it ever happened without the addition of a clearcut HOF superstar in the equation?

I don't know why it's so hard to imagine we could be really bad next year.
Seattle won 20 games in Durant's rookie year and 23 the next year with KD/rookie Russ. I think the biggest factor that would stop us from having an abysmal record again would be how awful the East is.

Hint: Its the Phoenix Suns after they picked up bledsoe, got a new coach and saw some growth out of their young guys.
Edit: Ok they weren't the worst in the league but they were close.

Denver went from 17 to 43 wins after drafting Melo, along with trading for Andre Miller. Camby was injured most of '02/'03 before bouncing back the following year. There are actually a lot of parallels to the Bucks if they add Bledsoe.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
As presently configured, I have the Bucks at 23 wins next year. Whether that's bottom 5 or 10...no one knows yet. The Bucks won't make a major leap in wins until they get a true floor general that defends and brings a complete offensive package. In lieu of that, they'll need a "system" that defines how all players will play..ala the San Antonio Spurs.
Jabari will probably average 20ppg and 7 rebounds right out of the gate because I see Kidd featuring his talents. I don't think Giannis is ready yet. With a new coach and system, it'll be like another rookie year for him. Hopefully the younglings get the bulk of the minutes. If they do, the Bucks will be in the 20-25 win range year 1 under Kidd.

With the rumors that the Bucks are looking for a PG. What are the chances that they offer the max to Bledsoe? Would the Suns match a max contract?
Alex Kennedy
According to reports, it’s something that has been discussed. I just can’t see Phoenix letting Bledsoe walk though. Ryan McDonough has said on a number of occasions that the Suns will match any offer that Bledsoe receives, because he played very well last year, showed flashes of brilliance and it’s pretty clear that his best basketball is ahead of him. The organization loves him and doesn’t want to see him leave. Also, it’s never smart to let an asset like that get away. The smarter thing to do would be to match the offer sheet and then trade him later if things don’t work out, for whatever reason. That way you at least get something back for the asset, instead of receiving no compensation back by letting him walk to Milwaukee.

Sounds similar to the Bucks thinking with Redd.

I don't want to spend the time to look, but I am guessing it has happened dozens of times. I don't think we will be outside the top 10, but there is a big difference between bottom 5 and 6-10 most years. I think we for sure win over 25 games next year though.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
What's really comical is that very few of you Bledsoe devotees have ever seen him play, except for a few u-tube highlights. And that's ok if his production was outstanding and you relied on that. But the love for a player who has produced very little and is very injury prone is cult-like. My guess is that if Brandon Knight played for a team in the West, you'd feel the same way about him, since he has produced similar numbers in fewer years of playing.

You're not off to the best start here, Big O. I wouldn't be making wild accusations like "very few of you have ever seen him play." This forum collectively watches a sh*t ton of NBA basketball. Way more than just the Bucks.

Re: Bucks looking at Lin, Bledsoe and Vasquez
Reasons we could be better this year
+ New coach
+ Larry Sanders being healthy in mind and body
+ Ersan returning to form
+ Healthy Zaza and Delfino
+ Mayo going on a diet
+ Jabari
+ improvement from Giannis
+ improvement from other young players like Knight, Wolters, Middleton, Henson, Miroslav
+ no Gary Neal or Caron Butler
I don't see any way we're as bad as last year, it's just a question of how much better we are

I cannot believe people are posting stuff like this. The expectations by people on this forum for Giannis and Jabari are going to get so high that there will be no chance but to be let down by them this upcoming season.
Odds are very, very, very, very, VERY high that neither of these guys will be very valuable players next year. Hall of Fame, top 10 all-time type talents like LeBron, Durant and KG weren't even that good when they were 19 years old.
We have a Knicks board level of homerism going on in regards to how good these two will be next year.

If Brandon Knight was actually VERY good at his role as a scoring guard like Bledsoe instead of mediocre as hell, yeah, he'd probably would have more fans.

This. I don't think anyone is doubting that improvement will occur. But just how much, and how will it compare against the improvement that other bad teams make. Aside from Philly there's reason to believe that Orlando, Utah, and Boston will also finish with better records.
