Should the Suns pay Bledsoe 4 years, $63 million?POLL
With his two torn meniscus, Roy's 3rd ended his career, should Bledsoe make $4 million year a more than Parker, Lawson and Lowry, $5 million a year more than Curry, and $8 million a year more than Conley and Teague?
Obviously you don't want to lose him for nothing, but is he worth it? Try and trade him later? Is he even tradeable at that price?
I'm still holding out hope McD is good a good enough negotiator to get him at 4/48. But an insider here mentioned we were giving him the max. We are unsure if that is our max, the Designated Player Max (5/90) or the max another team can give him 4/63.

I'd say yes, pending review from out medical staff.
I was all for giving Amare max and thought we blew it when Amare went off the NY and had an MVP level season. Then the rest is history. If our medical staff gives the go ahead, then sign him up.

You must take that risk. Everyone might be injured.

There is absolutely no need to give him Designated Player Max. The worst case scenario money wise is he signs offer sheet with other team which we will match, rightfully so.
And I believe there would be a market in the future for maxed Bledsoe to be traded if we want to.

explore sign and trade possibilities
not worth that maximum
especially if you can leverage Bledsoe for front court help

Brandon Roy has a degenerative condition in his knees. Im pretty sure Bledsoe does not have degenerative arthritis. From this we can see your comparison to Brandon Roy is poor. I think a better comparison from an injury standpoint is Dwyane Wade and his meniscus removal in college. Bledsoe is not as good a player as Dwyane Wade was at 24, but we can still have some confidence that he'll be playing well into his late 20's.
If Hayward is getting the mini max contract, then this means Bledsoe is going to get the same deal. We would all love to have Bledsoe on a bargain deal but that's pretty much impossible. So we either let him go or leave him, and it's absolutely insane to let this guy go for free. Therefore it's best to suck it up and pay the guy.

I wouldn't let him go for nothing, but what does Hayward have to do with Bledsoe?

Re: Should the Suns should pay Bledsoe 4 years, $63 million?
I wouldn't do it. Too many question marks and he hasn't played a full season as a starter yet. I'd rather give that money to Dragic next year because he is actually proven to be worth it. Bledsoe's value will likely never be this high again so I think you get what you can out of a sign and trade for him. Even if it is 1 year of Kevin Love, that may be enough to get us to the playoffs and sell him on signing an extension. If they whiff on Love (most likely) then you can pick up Lance Stephenson who is more of a traditional 2 guard, plays good D, can hit the 3, and can also run an offense. I am aware that he comes with some baggage, but I think PHX needs a guy like Stephenson to give the team a little bit of attitude. There is also the fact that we just drafted Ennis, so losing Bled isn't so much of a blow as many may think.

Hayward, a RFA will be @ $16m/4 years. Bledsoe's stats indicate he is a better player, so in my mind there is little doubt he is going to be offered less than that. Hayward is somewhat of an indicator for contracts of other RFAs of similar capability.

Hayward is always healthy and plays a different position more in need across the league though.

The position is pretty irrelevant. Teams are paying on 1) what they are capable of now, and 2) potential/future payoff. Bledsoe's health could certainly be a factor in his contract though. But that certainly didn't stop us from offering Eric Gordon a max in 2012. It also didn't stop New Orleans from matching - they didn't even flinch at that.

As a future asset I would vote yes. As a long term piece I would say no.

$16 million a year is insane money for Bledsoe IMO.

As is almost every contract which have been given so far this summer. That`s the market, bro.

A max for Bledsoe right now is nuts, but the FO has to pay it. Someone is going to give him a max offer, especially now that someone of Heyward's caliber has signed one. It just goes to show that teams have too much money available right now and they can afford to do so. The cap will go up over the next few years, so getting Bledsoe locked up this offseason and Dragic next means the backcourt is set for a while. Just hope one or two of the bigs develops even further or trade for another big man (it was floated on Bright Side that they go after Ryan Anderson...yes please!) and you've got your young and hungry team.
The future is still bright, even with Bledsoe locked up for 4-5 years.

I don't quite buy that. Hayward's ,Gortat, and Frye's were, yes - but Hawes, Z-Bo, Diaw, Nowitzki, Lowry, and Harris were fair IMO.

Of course you pay him... The alternative is to let him walk and try to build around Goran?

i wouldn't sign it, unless it's a S/T very favorable to us
definitely not worth it.
