It's more so the pistons aren't going to take a low ball offer for smith and they shouldn't.
As much as i would love to dump smith, he could fetch a decent return if we wait. Free agents can only officially sign tomorrow, so let's see where the chips fall and which teams are left with nothing, then we'll have a better idea of the market for Smith.

As much as I understand there's prestige involved with being in the starting lineup, Josh has gotten paid and Greg is about to get paid. It's not like coming off the bench would be costing either millions of dollars and everyone is going to get their minutes. Why wouldn't Smith/Monroe look at coming off the bench as a chance to dominate the Ed Davis/Darrell Arthurs of the world and help win games?

I'm really conflicted on Jennings. had he spent his summer working on his right hand I'd be lobbying to keep him around for a chance under SVG. The fact that he STILL hasn't developed the ability to use his right hand and played in the Drew league instead of working on his mechanics and fundamentals makes me say **** it, ship him out ASAP.

Theres not much Stan can do if all hes getting is terrible offers. Teams are trying to lowball us on both Smith and Monroe because they think we are going to have to trade one. Stan is trying to let the league know he will make it work before he gets raped in a trade.

All this says is that we don't want garbage for Smith. We want something of value, and considering what FA are getting this offseason- Smiths contract is not that bad.

There is a difference between Josh Smith staying, and the Pistons to avoid lowball offers while trying to trade him. Thats why we "value" him.

I'm convinced you're looking to push piston powered as you're posting news that's already been covered with two threads that you keep bumping. its annoying

"Josh Smith is Staying" is the fixed title? Seems like a way too definitive/not very descriptive title still.

This article sites a tweet everyone has already known about for days.

Just because someone wrote a blurb siting the tweet and included a conclusion with it doesn't mean there's any new information.

I little healthy skepticism would be nice, people.

I'm sure SVG stays in constant contact with the media to let them know exactly how much he values players and what his strategy might be. He'd never use them to posture before a potential trade or anything like that.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Nothing is fr certain. If Love goes to Cleveland as rumored now, Boston could go into sell mode and send Rondo to Sacto as they have Smart and Thornton now. Ainge loved Stauskas as well - so could he be sent to Boston (rather than McLemore) along with Williams and picks, and we could get involved and send Smith to Sacto for Thomas and fodder.

If Jennings and Smith are both here in November, do we label next season "The Revenge of the Jith"?
