So to recap, for Zeller they get out of a contract that runs through 2017 and they get a TPE. I think that's just a smart move. Certainly takes a different meaning with LeBron "in play" but I think that's a move that most teams would make regardless of what the next domino is.
This. LeBron might be leaving, but people are connecting dots that aren't dots at all.
Jarrett Jack was terrible last year, and his contract is an albatross for a team operating under the cap. Cleveland was able to unload him by attaching a guy who played 15 minutes per game on a 49-loss team and a foreign player who may or may not ever crack a rotation in the NBA.
This was a good move for Cleveland no matter what LeBron does.
