We've all spent the last 4 years being the only fans in the world to defend this guy when seemingly the rest of the world hated him. Now he's turning his back on us after that for the owner, team, and city that hated him the most. It makes no sense for them to pursue Ray Allen unless they know LeBron is coming. He's made it clear that he has two options: retirement, or piggy backing LeBron where ever he goes. Doesn't even make sense from a basketball standpoint for them to target Ray with a SG like Dion Waiters already on board. That's a let's attract LeBron some more move.

And how shameful is it on Ray Allen's part as well if he follows.... after the history between BOS/MIA and BOS/CLE for him to end up on both teams in the span of 3 years.

Or you do NOT know he's committing to come to you. His agent is telling you he's still not impressed.
What do you do? Show him max space and reach out to a player he likes to show him you're serious.
What does Cleveland have to lose in clearing up space? Nothing!

Could he leave? Sure. But this is not a clear sign...

Rich Paul told Cavs to make space and without Lebron committing himself to the Cavs either set themselves to get him or they just ruined their roster for nothing. They wanted to get rid of Jack I heard before anyway

The things that are keeping my hopes up a little are:

1. Would he really go back to Cleveland to make a ton of money for Dan Gilbert? That open letter was pathetic and the fact it was up on the website until a few days ago says that Gilbert was proud of it. Hard to believe LeBron would want to work for him again.

2. Would he really commit to go back to a team he hasn't personally met with and whose coach has no NBA experience and whom he hasn't met? I think LeBron has an acute sense of how important the GM and HC pieces are and I find it hard to believe he'd entrust his future and legacy to unknown quantities like that.

3. Would he really have asked or encouraged Wade, Bopsh and Haslem to opt out if he was seriously thinking about leaving?

4. Would he have been partying and working out with Wade in Vegas just a day or two ago if he was planning on leaving?

Would he make Riley fly out to Vegas to tell him he's leaving?

Did he make Riley fly out there, or did Riley want to fly out there to make a last ditch effort to sway him to stay?

When you look at CLE roster, just doesn't make sense.

You must be joking. It makes a ton of sense. They have a great young core and assets to trade for anybody in the NBA, including Love. I mean, i understand you guys not liking this if it happens, but it makes a ton of sense from a basketball standpoint.

Ray Allen has said that he would like to play wherever LeBron plays.

Assuming that's true and assuming further that LeBron to Cleveland is a done deal, then why would the Cavs be "pursuing" Ray Allen at this point? Wouldn't they just announce they've signed him sometime tomorrow?

Looks to me like they're trying to convince Ray to sign in an attempt to sway LeBron.

Of course, it could be that Ray isn't too keen on Cleveland and LeBron asked the Cavs to convince him/assuage his concerns.

Who the hell knows.

They don't currently have the players to compete for a title in the next 2 seasons.

Even if you are right, they do have the assets (and the cap space) to build a surefire contender relatively easily. I mean, you surely can't deny that. In my opinion an Irving-Waiters-Lebron-Thomas-Varejao team would already contend in the East, but the truth is, they can do a lot better than that, and they can do it easily.

It's one phone call, and Kevin Love is theirs (for Wiggins), assuming Lebron signs there of course. Then they would probably have Miller or Allen for the bench, maybe even both. Or maybe Marion and Carter. Or they could trade Waiters for two excellent role players. I mean, they have tons of assets to pull those off, you can't deny that.


With Wade's decline and the salary demands of the big three, i'm not even sure it would be possible to build a better roster in Miami than the one they could build in Cleveland. If Lebron's decision will come down only to basketball reasons, and he wants to secure himself on a contender for the next 5-6 years rather than for the next 2, it really is a no-brainer, as much as it probably sucks to hear for Heat fans. I still think it's fifty-fifty, but it comes down only to basketball reasons... It's very hard to argue against the Cavs.

Cavs made it known that they wanted to clear cap space WITH or WITHOUT LeBron.

They are just setting up for moves once LeBron signs with the Heat. They want to make the playoffs next year. So they might go for Ariza and Monroe once LeBron returns to the Heat.
