We pulled off a steal with Kerasev being added in. Love it.

Glad King demanded another asset be thrown in since we'd be getting a longer contract. Also glad it wasn't Zeller. He kind of sucks.

Good trade for all three teams. the Celtics get a pick, and a young center for nothing. Nets get their backup PG and another young asset. Cleveland clears cap space to make a legit run at the best player on the planet.

I rather let Lebron stay in Miami with an older Wade/Bosh than allow him to be with a younger core in Cleveland.

You're probably right, but it was still a great trade for all three teams for the reasons I specified. And even though Lebron would probably get scarier with Wiggins and Irving, he still kicked out ass playing with Bosh and Wade.

Great.

So Boston got Hump, Brooks, Wallace, 3 1st round picks & right to swap 1st rounders with Brooklyn, a Cavs 1st rounder, Thornton (huge expiring deal) & Zeller for Pierce, KG & Jet.

Just in case people don't know, the Celtics used the trade exception they got from the KG & Pierce deal to absorb Zeller & Thornton while getting a 1st rounder from the Cavs.

That Celtics deal looks worse and worse, next thing we'll be getting sold on a youth movement we've decided to go on while we sign and trade Pierce for Bullock & someone with salary to match in LA while KG retires.

NO! NOT DREJER!

MrDollarBills wrote:So we gave up some euro stashes as well?

1 really. Drejer's retired and Bavcic is 30 and not exactly lighting it up overseas. Karaman (Nets second round pick in the same draft they got Tyshawn and Toko) is young, but years away if ever at all after having double knee surgery.

The past is the past we make this trade 10/10 times. Can't turn a trade to improve the roster just because it makes a prior trade look worse.
And Pierce isn't going to LA if he wants $10 per year for 2 years and KG isn't leaving $12 million on the table to retire

Drejer is retired, and Bavcic is not really good enough to come over. Only one who has some limited upside and possibility of being in the NBA in the distant future is Karaman, and even that is very slim.

From a value stand point (ignoring the whole possibility of giving the Cavs the possibility of James), King got a nice deal.

We could have made this deal by deadline last season and traded Jet for Jack. Instead, he was able to add Karasev, who is just 20 or 21 years old. Nice prospect to add to the team. It basically gives us two 1st rounder from last year (Karasev, Plumlee), a 1st rounder this year (Bogdanovic), and we'll have our own next year.

Karasev has some real potential. The Cavs really liked him alot but Mike Brown didn't want to play the kids last season. Has a real high BBIQ too as his Father is a well known coach in Russia. He has a chance to be pretty good in a few years. I'm sure the Russians wanted this kid as he was on their Olympic team 2 years ago.

My point is if we suddenly have decided on a youth movement and S&T Pierce for another young player or what not like Bullock then that 1 year of KG & Pierce was a complete joke of a trade and we're moving into damage limitation and spin on selling what is happening.

Why not go on this youth movement last year prior to sending out 3 1sts?

If we don't bring back KG or Pierce then last years deal has to be seen as a horrible trade.

On a side note, Karasev is who I wanted us to take in the 2013 draft. Really nice prospect who could turn into something down the line if he develops well.

The old billy king would have caved early, and added an asst to boston so cleveland wouldnt have to give the celtics so much.

props to billy. maybe the kidd thing made him do a bit of self evaluating

I rather let Lebron stay in Miami with an older Wade/Bosh than allow him to be with a younger core in Cleveland.

I disagree. even an "old" big 3 in miami was going to be a contender. even if wade declines more too much talent, familiarity, chemistry.

in cleveland, they could be very beatable. I know we all love Kyrie, but he isnt a 2 way play and has had his own healthy issues. Beyond that, who do they have?

Waiters is decent i guess
Thompson is average at best
Varajao is always hurt
bennett is a bust
Wigging might be great, but he is long way from that, and is more terrance ross then tmac at least early on

i see the same issues as in miami. no size, no depth, and no one to rely on besides james. also, james not the best fit with a PG who is used to handling the ball. it will be interesting, there will be some growing pains and most importantly.... i cant see that team playing elite defense. that was miamis calling card

maybe if they got love, even then id giv ethe nod to the big 3 miami had. at least in year 1

maybe thats the natural initial reaction.... but:

Is Kyrie a big upgrade to what wade was last year? Wade had a pretty solid season, and Kyrie hasnt been durable enough to were you can say he upgrades you in reliability. Wade even decline was a 2 way player who was efficient.

Kyrie: 35 mpg, 20/6/3 53 TS%
last 3 years games played: 71, 59, 51

wade: 33 mpg, 19/5/4 59 TS%
last 3 years games played: 53, 70, 49

For Wiggins, Do you think he will be as good or better then bosh? maybe in a few years, but now? Certainly not offensively, and while i can see wiggings becoming an elite defender, bosh is probably the best defender among tweener bigs in the league. he can gaurd guys like dirk, hold his own inside and is a premier pick and roll defender. he can also give you 20/10 on any given night.

for me, with wiggins, at least early on i see more 12/5 with decent defense and plenty of growing pains

Thing is, I don't care about James this year and next. Yes, the Heat would have been favorites in the East with James. This year. Next year? When Wade falls off further? And Bosh continues to devolve into a jump shooting big man? Then what?

My concern with the Cavs is that playing with James will accelerate the development of their young guys, much like playing with Kidd accelerated the development of our young guys. He's that good. He will improve Kyrie's game and if they keep Wiggins, his game as well. He might even be able to salvage Bennett.

Let's face it. The odds of us winning is low for the next two years.

2016 is really when this team "resets".

By going to Cleveland, James just gave us a formidable foe in 2016 and beyond.
