yes, but if he actually signs an offer sheet then all this is moot and he's getting that contract. either from the Hornets or the Jazz.

True but this could just be a threat to Utah. If they think we will offer this and they are afraid to match it they may want to sign and trade. This way they get something out of it and save face. It also tilts the trade power some into our favor if they really don't like the contract.

Finally, someone picked up on it.

We could have also negotiated a slightly lower yearly 5 year deal while he was here as well. That way if Utah does not want to match this deal but wants something out of it they would be willing to sign and trade. It could save us some yearly while getting an extra year out of it since Utah would be making the deal.

Cho may be forcing their hand and seeing just how serious they are about matching anything offered.

'The Truth' is better than Hayward right now at one-third of the price

Make it happen cho, then sign lance and were lookin real good.

The only thing Cho better hope 'happen' right now is Utah match that nonsense offer sheet he just extended to Hayward

Lance Stephenson is the plan B. I'm sure of it.

I'm pretty indifferent about this. I still don't get the feeling Hayward will ever put on a Hornets uniform.

It's Parsons plan B - I'm sure of it (really I just consulted the Yankee oracle unbeknownst to you all).

So Neal and our 2015 1st? That's the best I would be willing to offer if I was Cho.

After we get done wasting our time on one RFA, the last thing I want is to waste more time on another RFA.

I would actually be alright with the Hayward situation if we offered Zeller, Neal, Henderson, Taylor to Utah, and then went out and paid Lance.

Guess we will find out in the next 12 hours or so.

Here's the start of that conversation

Cho: Hello, Rich Cho here with the Charlotte Hornets

Jazz guy: Proceed...

Cho: Well I'm calling about trade possibilities

Jazz guy: Mr. Cho, I see you've had an eventful few days. You're not getting our guy.

Cho (nervous giggle): We had a pretty good idea you wouldn't go down without a fight. I'm sure the last thing you will do is let Gordon go, just like that.

Jazz guy: Indeed...

Cho: So what will it take to get him? Name the player. We really like Gordon...

They're not taking Henderson, and if we were sending out Zeller we'd be using most of the rest of our cap to go after a power forward.

Assuming a S&T were to happen I would be rather irate if Zeller was included.

Gordon is gonna sign the offer sheet at 12:01 AM, so he basically have 12 hours of time to figure out a S&T, i doubt we can do that and i would much rather us not

If Utah matches which is what everyone is saying today do we then offer lance the same contract?

it's not a difficult concept to pick up. I just think things are a little farther down the line than this. it's not "if" the Hornets will offer this. reports say it has been offered and Hayward plans to sign it. to the extent that this offer sheet puts pressure on somebody, it's on the Jazz, not the Hornets.

Sounds good to me, I'd try to offer him a little less though to make sure we can afford to fill out our bench.
