I think that is the first tweet from Bonnell this offseason that has actually been informative.

Bonnell also has MKG coming off the bench behind Hayward and Henderson starting in his starting 5 if we somehow do land Hayward.

Who said a sign + trade deal would have Hayward on the max? It would be 5 years with the money more spread out, lower annually.

Oh okay, that makes much more sense.

I speculate Cho/Jordan/Clifford presented Gordon Hayward + family with 2 offers, one private, one released to the public. We see the 4 year 63 million. There must be an alternative though that the Jazz can technically offer at 5 years with the money more spread out and Hayward and family must have agreed to that one as well. 5 years, 70 million? That's 14 million per season, which is where I have Hayward pegged.

That's a total savings of $1.75 million a year. I don't think losing MKG would be worth that unless they took back Henderson as well.

That is quite the paycheck for Hayward coming from us . . . Anyway, welcome Commissioner Gordon.

I agree, clearing Henderson (6) + MKG (5) and keeping Hayward at maybe 12 his first season of that 5 year deal only slices a 1 million dollar sliver off our cap. We go from 19.5 (blackoutbobcat's figure) to 18.5.

Lance.

I'd be happy about that, but it's really risky unless we already have assurances that Lance will sign with us.

Pardon my ignorance but where Gordon's stats last season anyway? I'm honestly just not familiar with him enough.

Gordon loses that option if the Jazz agree to a sign + trade. Charlotte now has more incentive to push for it.

Just need Kemba's word and 50 million on reserve.

16 5 and 5 on eh shooting as a first option on the Jazz.

Is he really worth this money? Or are we trying to incite fear into someone?

He'll be overpaid but everyone is getting overpaid this offseason

I wonder if any of us understand that we just offered a max contract to 'Jeff Hornacek reincarnated'. Hornacek is probably falling out of his office chair to a near cardiac heart attack thinking to himself that he never received that type of money despite being more successful in his earlier years

Hornaceks Suns were probably next in line to offer a max contract to him, or somewhere very very close to it.

I'd understand Hornacek's bias towards it since it's like looking in the mirror. I over-favor players like Shabazz Napier & Trey Burke because they remind me of myself, so it's understandable, but at some point common sense & cents has to set in. There's nothing in regards of history of contracts that would argue that Hayward is worth that type of money. I don't think any player has ever received this level of expense in a offer with parallel statistical numbers

Sounds good to me, I'd try to offer him a little less though to make sure we can afford to fill out our bench.

No you don't. He is nuts so that lowers his price. Also no trade kickers or player options. I would add a team option too.

Lance only has one legit offer on the table right now and thats at a yearly rate of 8.8 a year. I say we start negotiations with him at 4 years 40 million then go from there.

I'll blame this offer on 'Chad Buchanan' corrupting Cho's mind with his incompetence

We are not the Hornets, we're the JazzCats.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
