If Isaiah Thomas and Nate Robinson can make it at 5'7ish I don't why a guy a few inches shorter could do what they're doing.

They're 5'9" and 5'10" in shoes. Subtract 1 inch without shoes.

I've met Isaiah... he isn't 5'9. I'm 6'2 in shoes and I was looking down at his hair. He's definitely shorter than that.

Less bigs, more small forwards and guards. So basicly every one on the floor now is capable of defending a penatrating guard. Now players are a lot faster on average, so not so much advantage to be gained.

Basicly every team now has a few 6ft players who could contain those guys.

lol at the idea of a 6'5" guy being able to stay with a 5'5" guy. Not happening. Those mini-minis weren't successful by running always from Shaq, they were successful because even perimeter types couldn't contain them. They can't even contain guys like Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas who are 3-5 inches taller than the mini minis.

And the huge key is that you are no longer allowed to touch perimeter guys. No more handchecking, which was the primary advantage bigger guards had again the little darts.

No ones saying you should stick a 6'5 guy on a 5'5 guy, every team has multiple quick guys in the 6ft range now a days.

Back in the early 90's most teams had 4-5 C's taking up roster spots just to foul Shaq. The smallest players a lot of those teams had was in the 6'3-6'5 range. They just didn't have the roster spots, most teams where top heavy.

Even with the league being more geared towards quick players now, height is still obsessed over. Will there ever be another Earl Boykins or Mugsy Bogues stature type player in the league?

considering their have only been 2 in NBA history, i dont think it was likely before or will be likely in the future. im sure one will pop up every 20-30 years... but you question kind of implies that it was more common at one point.

there have only been 6 players ever under 5'8", and 3 of them played in the 40's and 50's back when in general people were shorter.

Its hard to see another 5"5 or shorter player making it in the NBA anytime soon.
However in the 5"6-5"9 range, we see about 2-3 new players break through every 5-10 years.

I read Earl Boykins can bench like 350 or something, that's why no one can post those little dudes up.

I think that's complete bs. He is skinny for his own size and looks nothing like someone who could bench that, i'm not even sure that is humanly possible with his body.

In any case, height is an issue, but all of you forget about wingspan! If someone is 5'5 with a huge wingspan they might have a better chance than someone a few inches taller.

He's actually not THAT bad considering he only played 14 mpg. PER at 15.5 is average and his per-36 min stats are pretty nice minus the %s.

Well at least that explains how you reached your conclusion, and at least its a more amusing version fo the NBA than the one the 13yr old kids envision where back in ancient times in the 90s nobody was over 6'8" or had more than a 20" vert. However there still has never been an NBA like the one you describe.

If you made the NBA at 5'0" you'd have to be by far the most talented player of your height in the history of the game.

If you made the NBA at 7'0", all you'd need to do is be relatively coordinated and a little lucky.
