If they get Lebron I would expect them to trade Wiggins down the road for more "win now" players. Doesn't make sense to build towards the future AND go for chips at the same time. As to Bennett, he needs to show he belongs in the NBA first before Cleveland figures out what to do with him.

Based on what I read, the Cavs think Wiggins can play the 2.

Wiggins will probably be able to defend four positions on the court once hes in his prime, but the guy looks like a work in progress on the offensive side. If you have Lebron on your team, you are probably going to want a more traditional floor spacing SG so Leborn has room to drive/create, not someone whose just a great athlete.

I'm sure the cavs would love to have the problem of figuring out how to dole out minutes to Lebron and Wiggins.

Lebron in all likelihood would play PF regardless.

So, LeBron is probably going to leave Miami. And that means a 30 year old Bosh, who has been a third wheel on a championship team and who wants to prove his value next year (and has now been abandoned/disrespected by a guy most likely going to a team in our division) will be available. But, I'm to pretend that a 30 year old Gortat will be his equal next year, right?

God, I would love a minute by minute update of his thoughts and feelings on this day. To be a fly on his Wall. I can't stop thinking about it. Help me somebody.

PS: wonder how much he'll make on web tragic today?

C'mon now. Who would you pick if you were Bosh? Houston, alongside Dwight, Harden and Parsons? Or Washington, with Wall, Beal and a broken down Nene?

What nate said. Yet another false equivalency driven only by hatred of Ernie.

:nonono:

The only way the Wizards could have signed Bosh would have been renouncing both Gortat and Ariza. At that point, why would he sign here over a place like Houston? No, the choice was never "Gortat or Bosh" and to try to describe it that way is a gross oversimplification IMO.

Hatred for Ernie? Lol. No.

And what's funny is other playoff teams seem to draw interest from top players, but we never hear our GM attempting to attract star players in free agency (and our fans accept this). How did Houston possibly attract Howard to begin with?

If I were Bosh would I rather play with Houston or us? I would choose us. Why? Because John Wall, Beal, Bosh and expiring Nene is better poised for a championship team than Howard and Harden (both of whom have major flaws of leadership, as predicted and as demonstrated by last season). Also, we are in the East.

As I said, we keep selling ourselves short. We only deserve Gortat. It's like a battered wife.

I don't agree that Wall, Beal, and Bosh is better than Harden, Bosh, and Howard (actually that's pretty laughable—Howard and Harden are better than every player on this team by far) but I do agree that this FO sets expectations very low year after year.

I mean, the FO basically says "Why in hell would anyone want to sign here" around this time every year.

Both Harden and Howard are overrated. Both players spent a great deal of last year yelling at their point guard. Neither are leaders, and both will go nowhere until they join a team with one.

Btw, you are assuming we make no other moves -- like clear more cap for someone else as well as Bosh. Or adding picks to Nene to get another piece.

Looking like he is going back to Cleveland.

J Jack to BRK and Tyler Zeller and Sergey Karasev to Boston

Cleveland clearing the decks.

And they have the pieces to get Love next year with three first and young assets to send to MIN.

Actually, probably happens before the trade deadline.

I kind of hope the Cavs do trade for Love. It absolves them of every single asset they have. Wiggins, obviously, would have to be in the deal. I think the deal would be Wiggins+Bennett for Love.

That leaves them with:

PG: Kyrie/
SG: Waiters/
SF: Lebron/
PF: Love/Thompson
C: Varajeo/Thompson

They'll probably sign some vets like Ray Allen, James Jones, etc., but Lebron is the only defender on that team (well Varajeo is, but he's nowhere near what he used to be). Plus, because Tristan Thompson's agent is Rich Paul, the Cavs will be forced to pay way above market-value for him (I say he gets 4/40). So, they entire cap space is done with Lebron, Kyrie, Love, and Thompson making mucho dollars.

Wiggins + Bennett + Wolves, wonder how much of the Canadian market they could grab?

Actually, it would have to be bigger. Yes, they are under the cap, but they will be using all that space to sign LeBron. That means they can't just absorb Love's contract in a lopsided deal. And since Wiggins hasn't been signed, he has no dollar value in the deal - they would be trading his rights.

Kevin Love will make $15,719,063 this season. To even get close to that, they'll have to at a minimum send Bennett+Waiters+Hopson. And wasn't Minny insisting that GSW take Kevin Martin in any Love trade scenario? If that's the case, then the Cavs will also have to replace Hopson with Verajao.

Assuming they get some of LeBron's old pals on cheap deals (Birdman, Allen, Miller) their roster would be more like this:

Birdman/Haywood
Love/Thompson
LeBron/Miller
Martin/Allen
Kyrie/Delevadova

Similar depth concerns to what Miami had, but still darn good.

Hilarious, James is gone to Cleveland. Check out Mike Miller's post from 11 minutes ago, there is a certain jersey on the floor behind him....

He's played this pretty much as badly as "The Decision", but I'll love every second of watching Miami implode.

I have to agree that the Wizards FO seems to think small, highly valuing consistency; A 'slow and steady wins the race'- type of thinking. This has some advantages over teams that seem to constantly change directions. Yet, I think Morey & co. in Houston thought big and got some big time players without tanking. They have yet to win a championship, but I like their thinking and maybe they get Bosh too. Ainge shot for the stars and won one championship (came pretty close to two.)

I think it's more like "slow and steady finishes the race, eventually," but I know a lot of people on this board generally agree with these sentiments.

Hey, monte, that's my sexual motto.

That and "I'm sorry, I don't know what happened"
