I do. We'd be getting a solid starting PG who still has some upside for nothing.

Nash, Marshall and a first would be cool.

I think it is fairly obvious we want an upgrade at the PG spot so I certainly wouldn't expect us to immediately trade Lin after acquiring him.

That's why we get Marshall ;).

Only if Kidd can make him play PG like rookie-sophmore Ramon. Otherwise, that gets a whopping no thank-you.

I like Ramon. I want him back. :)

I'm starting to get worried about what we're going to do with our cap space.

Yeah. Really wouldn't shock me if there's a press conference next week introducing the new Bucks backcourt of Greivis Vasquez & Rodney Stuckey.

If we make some typical Hammonds signings I'll probably be done with this team until they finally clean house.

Its unlikely Bledsoe will be here - whether we sign or not as they will almost certainly match. In this thread we seem to have have some agreement that even without Bledsoe we are unlikely to have a top 5 draft pick. So we are unlikely to damage our almost non-existent chance at another top 3 draft position by some moderate improvements. With Bledsoe out of the picture who is the best PG that could be had? Lets expand the list of possibilites

Rocket’s Jeremy Lin has already been discussed and remains a viable option. Vasquez has also been discussed and it seems the general feeling is he is not a fit. King’s Isaiah Thomas had numbers similar to Bledsoe. Though a FA he should come much cheaper due to his very short height and resulting defensive disadvantage. Jazz’ Trey Burke is likely available with Exum on board but Trey was not that impressive as a rookie starter. Obviously he could take a jump as many do from their rookie to 2nd year. Not sure Lakers would give up Kendall Marshall- but then does anyone want 528 ft% in their primary ball-handler? Our man Ramon Sessions is already 28 and has no range. Thunder’s Reggie Jackson put up good numbers as a backup. He could be the guy that breaks out by moving into a starting spot out from behind Westbrook’s shadow.

--------------------------age-hgt-PER-mpg-ppg-apg-fg%-3p%-ft%
Eric Bledsoe ----------24- 6’1- 19.6- 33- 18- 6- 477- 357- 772
Trey Burke ------------21- 6’1- 12.6- 32- 13- 6- 380- 330- 903
Kendall Marshall -----22- 6’4- 12.7- 29- 08- 9- 406- 399- 528
Reggie Jackson ------24- 6’3- 15.4- 28- 13- 4- 440- 339- 893
Isaiah Thomas -------25- 5’9- 20.5- 35- 20- 6- 453- 349- 850
Jeremy Lin -----------25- 6’3- 14.3- 29- 12- 4- 446- 358- 823
Ramon Sessions ------28- 6’3- 16.0- 27- 12- 4- 429- 282- 807

I pass on Thomas as I don’t see tying up the money and years it might take to sign him. Then again maybe the market for him isn’t there. He could be a bargain. But unless he signed at a backup price (around $3m/y) I would want to try to do better. The thing about Reggie that is both bad and good is that he is a FA at the end of this season. That’s good as we walk away if he sucks. But it will cost us if he breaks out. Still even if he plays super its unlikely he’ll command the max that we were prepared to pay for Bledsoe. I believe Jackson has the most upside and can still take a considerable jump in his game.

ROSTER-age
Sanders-25 / Radu-28 / Zaza-30
Parker-19 / Henson-23 / OBryant-20
Giannis-19 / Wright-26 / Inglis-20
Knight-22 / Middleton-23 / Delfino-31
Jackson-23 / Wolters-23

I suspect that team would finish with the 5th-10th worst record.

How exactly are we getting Jackson in that scenario?

Jackson is NOT available. You can throw a big deal at him after this year if you want. I don't think I do. I don't like guys who excel at playing in the wake of others who would need to create the wake at the next club.

IT2 is looking at 8M/. He is also one of the worst defenders in the league.

I want nothing to do with anyone on that list. Lin is only discussed because of the assets that would come along with him. Not because he is worthy of being the answer at PG.

If the Cavs get LeBron, does that effect anything the Bucks try to do? The Heat's shelf life w/ LeBron was only as long as Wade's knee's didn't implode but this current Cavs team is far superior, imo. They're pretty much a super version of the Cavs team that won 60 games and a lot younger.

WHY DIDN'T WE JUST DRAFT A POINT GUARD! DAMNIT BUCKS! Isaiah Thomas was the 60th overall pick in his draft for pete's sake.

If we're going to get on the Bledsoe train, we need to sign him to an offer sheet ASAP. We can't wait for LeBron/Melo/Bosh and others to have deals done. We need to strike while teams like Phoenix still believe that they need to keep some cap space open for a superstar.

I have a weird feeling we are going to speaking to Isaiah Thomas in the near future.

If you want a point guard who will reliably get the ball to the frontcourt players, score pts., and play decent defense, you want Lin. If you want more pts. out of the backcourt at the expense of the young, frontcourt players, you want Bledsoe. Marshall would not be an upgrade over Wolters.

I suppose it makes the Lin deal more likely. Because Bosh can't pair with LeBron, leaving him to find a new big 3 to be a part of that's probably in Houston, forcing Houston to make the Lin trade. Then it's a matter of if Houston deals with us or Philly. If it's Philly, and the deal is suspiciously sweet for one team or the other, I'm screaming collusion between Morey and his former boy Hinkie. There would be something hinky about the situation alright.

BTW, something that nobody else is talking about, is what the hell is D-Wade going to do if LeBron and Bosh leave? 2 boys are coming home of a trio? Would a third? Which home would he come back to? :D Probably Chicago.

Yeah, Chicago would be my vote. Unless he wants to take the money from the Heat and doesn't care about winning.

The problem with Lin is that he's going to be a guy that helps you win games but at the same time is always a guy you want to replace with someone better. Sort of a Herb Kohl type acquisition.

Also, his name value is greater than his actual ability to contribute. In that respect, he's a perfect Herb move.
