Josh Harrellson
It seems like every article about a sign and trade for IT moving Josh Smith includes Josh Harrellson in the outgoing trade. Is it just me, or are we throwing away a good back up big for no reason? Harrellson can shoot the three, he puts in energy on defense and generally hustles. If Smith is gone, our big man depth is much thinner. Also, Jorts is low cost. Did his injury somehow impact his future? What do you guys think?

I really like harrelson. I thought he was fantastic last season when he played. He's not okur but I think he brings a similar game.

Re: Josh Harrellson
Could be because his contract is non-guaranteed and Sacto would just walk away from it and save that cap space.

Re: Josh Harrellson
Interesting. If the Kings walked away from his contract could we pick him back up or are there rules against it?

That doesn't make sense because of the contracts involved.

Nope we can't. There's a minimum period where we cannot re-aquire the player, one season IIRC.

Re: Josh Harrellson
i think they add him just to balance out the roster spots and he's got the non-guaranteed contract.
If we do end up trading Smith for IT we really should be sending out Siva instead of Jorts

I like Jorts, but he's not valuable enough to give pause when you can upgrade one of your starting position.

Sounds like he's been waived.

Re: Josh Harrellson
^Harrellson had to skip playing for the SL team (at request from Stan) because of a lingering back injury/issue. Also Gray is a big body that Drummond can bang on in practice working on his post moves - Gray is said to be a good one-on-one defender and more of an old school traditional low post grinder - Jorts isn't that type of physical presence.

Would be shocked if he didn't get picked up somewhere else.

Re: Josh Harrellson
He's played well enough that he has, at a minimum, league min contracts year-to-year for the next few years. Just needs to stay healthy, which seems to be an issue.

Re: Josh Harrellson
Honestly, I liked jorts and was a little surprised to see him waived in favor our Gray, but in SVG we trust, right?
Best of luck to him in the future. Hopefully he goes to a team that has a nickname jersey night. I would love to see his jersey actually read "jorts" hahaha

IMO, SVG was influenced without taking a real look at the kid... Gray is not better in any aspect of the game (maybe as a pick man).

Re: Josh Harrellson
Comparing Jorts to Gray is pointless. They're both end of the bench players, more useful in practice than in a game. In that regard, the Pistons need someone who can bang with Drummond in practices, and that wasn't Jorts. Monroe can't fill that spot because #1, they're not going to match up our two best players in practice and risk injury, and #2, at times, Monroe and Drummond will be practicing alongside one another, when Monroe is at the PF.

You're entitled to your opinion... no matter how ignorant it may be. You don't think they should risk injuries to their top 2 players... just their top player?

It's one thing to go up against someone you know you are physically, and ability-wise superior to. It's another thing to go up against someone much closer to your own talent level. Drummond has nothing to prove against a guy like Gray. Against Monroe, that competitiveness could get the better of him. Granted, there is always the possibility of an injury regardless, but IMO a player is more likely to go hard at someone of a similar talent level as opposed to laughing off a guy who is clearly inferior.

Do you think back in 2000 that Duncan would prefer to bang with 7'0" 270 lb. Felton Spencer or 7'1" 235 lb. David Robinson? I would think going against a more talented and lighter adversary would be the preference. IMHO. Sorry, didn't mean to bust your nuggets... I just thought your statement didn't make a lot of sense.

You really think David Robinson weighed 235lbs?
