THIS! Marvin at 4m is a much better deal compared to Hayward at 16m. Also could be an 8th man or so, letting MKG start & not hinder his development.

Hayward is a 3. I know he's weak to guard some 3's, but he's not quikc enough to guard most 2's, who really have the size & quickness of 1's now a days.

Sign MW, keep some flexibility, while improving your team. Plus your rooks are gonna both be good players, no need to go all in to be a 4-5 seed now, you guys can probably get the 5-6th seed next year anyways w/ MW & your rooks. Get a back up pg & you guys are set!

Walker- ?? - Neal
Hairston-Hendo
MKG-Williams - Taylor
Zeller-Vonleh
Jefferson-Biyombo - Haywood

Don't mean to burst the bubble, but I don't see Hairston starting next year. At most I see him getting 20 minutes a game if he absolutely guns it out of the gate. Realistically, I see him getting around 10-15 per game and it could be lower. We will also sign a backup PG before the season starts.

If we want a power forward that can shoot the 3 Marvin Williams is the best guy available. We need shooting badly, so I think we'll sign him before the weekend is up.

As long as a Marvin Williams signing won't hold us back in the Lance sweepstakes, I'm for it. I think there's better options out there, and advertising Williams as a stretch 4 is a bit of a... stretch, since his three-point shot is quite inconsistent throughout his career. He shot 24, 24, 10, 35, 30, 34, 39, 32, and 36 percent in each year of his career. If we pay him about $3M a year as a vet backup PF/SF for when the young'uns struggle, that's good but if he wants more, look elsewhere. Sign Jeff Adrien and then load up on three-point shooting wings. If worst comes to worst, a Big Al/MKG/shooter/shooter/Kemba lineup can certainly hold its own if Zeller/Vonleh struggle to the point where you have to take them out.

Our interior defense is going to get shredded if Marvin is our starting PF. This guy is so overrated.

I'd rather retain Anthony Tolliver for a lesser price than to acquire Marvin Williams at a over saturated price due to his collegiate acclaim and #2 overall pick status

I don't think being the #2 pick in 2005 has any impact on how much he will cost in 2014

i do. i dont think it inflates it much, but i do think it does factor in a little bit.

there really isnt much difference between tolliver and marvin these days, yet tolliver will get the vet min or maybe 2mil, while i could see marvin getting 5mil easy.

I'd humbly disagree. I firmly believe that perception would make Marvin Williams seem like he's a far and away better player than Anthony Tolliver even by some that believe that they are both lackluster, but in reality they have performed at a similar level & rate throughout their career, just Tolliver is a slightly better 3-point shooter

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 01&y2=2014

Williams will be able to demand between $3-5 million while Tolliver will be looking at the veteran's minimum to $2 million max

Williams will be a decent bit more expensive than Tolliver because he is better, Tolliver is basically useless if he isn't hitting threes, Williams can do more things

I'd agree that Williams is better than Tolliver and 'can do more things' but not enough to make the excess of monetary expenditures (at least $3 million more annually) worth it. Tolliver is the better 3-point shooter, and that's a attribute that this team need from it's role players on the floor as long as we're running the infamous 'Alfense'

:noway: :noway: More I think about it with Hayward now gone Plan B should be via the trade route and neither AT or MW fit as free agents because they take up next years cap space when we might land Brooke Lopez. and/or other FA? Heres some trade ideas for now....
Trade Checker#....6484683 Solomon Hill and Chris Copeland and Stephenson(S+T) 2015 1st from Indiana
for Henderson and Zellar and our 2015 1st OR
Trade checker#......6484696 Waiters and Felix from Cleveland for Henderson 2015 2nd roundpick. OR

Trade Checker#......6484710 Ryan Anderson from New Orleans for Henderson and Taylor (We Sign CDR)

Then we sign DJ as backup point and we are done with Free Agency for this year.
