That's about what I thought a fair contract for him would be in the open market. Maybe a little on the high end but it's about right. I think it's good value for a guy who gives 110% every game and every practice and has only missed four games combined in the past two seasons. He's still got room to improve (post game? passing?) and he'll still be in his prime at the end of this contract.

Could we have found someone cheaper from FA or D-League? Possibly. But we have a great, proven competitor in PJ now and if you consider the salary he was on the last two seasons, it all averages out.

Hornacek would say to you, and probably says to McD, Sarver etc "He's a lot more important to this team than you might think."

Do you trust Hornacek? I trust these guys.

Tucker got a little over 5 million a year. His defense, rebounding, hustle, and corner threes are worth probably 3-4 million a year but his leadership more than covers the rest of that contract. Also keep in mind he was looking at larger deals than that on the open market. This is a fair contract IMO. Looking forward to three more years of Doctor Swartz

Tucker was the heart of this team last year and set the tone from summer league. The players love him and rightfully so he gives it his all and plays the right way

I think someone said we could then get him from Minnesota for Dragic or something, who could also leave them in a year. There are very few people in the entire league Wiggins would be traded for.

I don't even think Cleveland would trade him for Love (even if Love said he would stay long term) if they don't get LeBron.

I think you way overvalue wiggins. He's not the can't miss prospect people thought he was coming out of highschool. There would be at least 15 guys Cleveland would trade him straight up for(ignoring salary) and another 15 or so you could conceivably build a trade around with other assets. Would they trade him straight up for Bledsoe? No, but you're crazy if you don't think they'd trade him for love.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

@daldridgetnt

FA guard Anthony Morrow still considering the Clippers, Heat, Wizards, Raptors and Suns, per source. All willing to use some portion of MLE.

The Suns' latest big free-agency play is for the NBA's smallest player.

Restricted free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas is visiting Phoenix on Friday night and Saturday to talk to the Suns.

The most intriguing part about the 5-foot-9 three-year veteran is his position because of Eric Bledsoe's restricted-free-agent status and the recent drafting of point guard Tyler Ennis. The Suns' intention with the pursuit of Thomas would be to play him as a third guard behind Bledsoe and Goran Dragic.

The Suns consistently have expressed their intent to keep Bledsoe and will have the right to match any offer sheet he signs. Negotiations with Bledsoe are ongoing.

Thomas was the 60th pick, the draft's final slot, in 2011 after a college career at Washington, his native state. His explosive play earned immediate time, and his competitive nature showed when he beat out Aaron Brooks and Greivis Vasquez over the past two seasons to be Sacramento's starting point guard. Last season he averaged a career-best 20.3 points, 6.3 assists and 1.3 steals with 45.3 percent shooting.
Sacramento holds rights to match any offer sheet for Thomas, 25, but the Kings just agreed to give point guard Darren Collison a five-year, $16 million contract. Several teams have shown interest in Thomas but Slam reported that he said his top three teams are Phoenix, Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Plumlee is on a cheap rookie deal and almost put up 10/10 in like 28 minutes. He is not a problem. You can say the center position is a problem but plumlee was great last year what do you expect him to be hakeem?

Love the deal and love that the management is smart enough to realize all this and bring him back. Good job McD

Sweet we signed PJ Tucker. We can still be stuck at 9th to 11th seed in the Western Conference like the Wolves have been doing for years. I cannot wait!

Honestly, I would be okay with Thomas being the third guard behind Dragic and Bledsoe if we didn't have Ennis, Smith, and Goodwin. We're overloaded at the guard position. There must be a trade coming.

I'm speechless right now. My disappointment level with the suns is huge right now. This is why the same teams win over and over. Some teams are dedicated to winning and some are not. Right now the winning isn't that important to the suns.

I agree he shouldnt be a long term starter but he is a good guy for the young guys to learn from and a good leader. I do however think he makes a good 6th man, and his contract will allow for that after this year when I think Warren takes the starting small forward spot.

I agree. Guy is a good solid role player and for 5.5m - not the worst deal.

I don't think a panic move. I think a move dictated by how overpriced the market is for Chandler Bleeping Parsons of the world

I'm glad ur glad. I've been watching basketball for 30 plus years. Seen 100 Tucker's come and go. My retort to you is, he does less than you realize. He is a poor mans SF version of Bo Outlaw.

Moot point.

I have to suffer for three more years of this guy and I have no choice.

He he he ...
Tucker is an asset either way. And he's in our pantry. I'll trust our FO and coaches opinion/ decision on this one, just as I do with Frye

With Frye gone we're down to 2 vets. Dragic and Tucker. Dragic isn't known to be a locker room leader like Tucker and Frye are.
Try adding a cheap free agent and see him mimic what Tucker did as a whole for the team. It's a cheap deal, I don't get why it's so hard to appreciate this one.

A very good, fair and reasonable deal for the Suns and PJ Tucker both. Thumbsup to McD!
