If we somehow land Gasol, the rest of the league may as well forfeit next season.

I'd be willing to trade someone like Splitter to give Pau more money. Appreciate the work he's done but once Duncan goes, I don't see him being as effective (which at the best wasn't amazing anyway).

As frustrated a Splitter makes me at times there was no denying that he was a huge part of our championship. He was practically the MVP of the Dallas series and most of the Portland series. He had as much to prove as Manu did to redeem himself from last year and he did it and then some. He even redeemed himself against Lebron with that block in the finals this year. He knows our system and what Pop wants. He fits in better than just about any player we could get comparable to him for the same money including Gasol IMO.
I'd LOVE to have Gasol but not at the expense of Splitter and I wouldn't have said that just a couple months ago. Geez, I wanted to trade Splitter for Omar Asik straight up last December and I would never do that now.

The organisation never would that's for sure. We are too loyal to our important players. I could never see Splitter being moved.

But to strengthen the team for a chance at repeating, I'd take Gasol over him.

Again, not taking away from his role in the playoffs but Pau is better at pretty much everything and even at his age, in tough times you can go to him in the post because he has the moves, has the experience. He would almost inevitably excel in this system.

As it is, I'd be happy enough to keep Splitter but also don't see enough minutes for all the bigs if we keep him and add Pau.

**** I really wish Gasol came.

I do hope we get someone here as a veteran insurance at SF/PF.

Of the available guys right now, I want Shawn Marion. He shouldn't be expensive. He can make corner 3s. Still a good rebounder. Will fill in great if Kawhi gets hurt. Can play small ball PF. Should also be able to play with Kawhi. Doesn't need the ball to be effective.

Come on Marion.

Yeah, I'm disappointed Gasol didn't choose SA. Him in this offense would've been ridiculous. I know he's still got something left in the tank as well, despite what Laker fans say. He'll be good with the Bulls though, providing Rose is healthy. Noah and Pau are probably the best big man passing combination in the league now.

Matrix would be good as a backup/insurance behind Kawhi. I heard that he was considering the Heat, but I assume that ship has sailed since Deng is signing there. The only thing that I can see being a hurdle is, Marion possibly wanting a starting gig. He won't get that here, obviously. But hopefully he understands a player of his caliber in our system would get significant PT anyway.

If we don't land him, I'm all for pursuing MWP. He very well could be done, but if there's anything left in the tank at all I think he could help us.

Once Duncan is gone, Gasol won't be a force either.

Splitter has done a great work in the defensive end, matching great against quick-strong PF or big guys. His pick and roll defense is good.
Gasol can't guard quicker players such as Griffin or Aldridge, even though his offense is much better.

But the dream has come to an end, so we're bringing back the RED ROCKET.
