Would love to watch TJ go up againt PJ in practice.

Tucker made us tougher, and every team needs a dirt worker. Of course it was great having him for peanuts, but he isn't going to crap out on you like many players, who get bigger money.

In the end we retain our best defender on a decent deal. He is the type of guy you want teaching the youngsters.

Some of the bitching is hysterical.

Isaiah Thomas? Are you f***ing serious?

Dude, what's wrong with having 4 point guards 6'4 or less? Especially when they are only going to cost you a little over $30 million, or next year, only about $40 million?

Does anyone know when Thomas is meeting with them today?
Or has he already

Was about to post the same thing. You also have Avery Johnson

Isaiah Thomas of the Pistons was 6'1 do your homework. 6'1 is passable

Avery JOhnson was 5'11

Every inch matters

Johnson you have an argument on but Thomas is ultra tiny at 5'9 he seems like a better version of nate robinson to me nothing more than a 6th man microwave off the bench for like 7-8 mil a year

Goal post moving.

Yeah, I brought this up a few days ago because it was rumored we had visited with Thomas. I said maybe a S&T Bledsoe (to play with his buddy Cousins) and we get Thomas, Stauskas, Derrick Williams (to help match salaries), and a pick.

Derrick Williams only has a year left so if he doesn't work out, no big deal, and Stauskas, a pick and Thomas isn't terrible for future.

Of course I say this with the caveat of it being done ONLY because McD didn't want to pay Bledsoe that much (for whatever reason) and wanted to keep Dragic and not pay both.
Otherwise I'd prefer to keep both no matter the cost.

BUT, I think Thomas would actually be a good sparkplug 6th man type off the bench. If he was our free agent signing to just come off the bench, that's a DAMN good pg to come off the bench. It doesn't make Ennis expendable necessarily because he's a rookie. But just signing him gives us more trade options later...whether it be trading Thomas, Bledsoe, Dragic, Ennis.

Forgot I never got back to you on this BW... I had not read yours before posting my very similar thought. Great minds think alike on that one. i think the tea leaves are getting pretty clear with regards to Sacto. I certainly don't know if something will happen there, but we know who the players are likely to be if it does. Surprised Stauskas signed his deal already, though....will limit trading him until Dec., I think.

Oh, I didn't realize Stauskas couldn't be traded until December. I really thought there was a decent legit chance a deal like this could happen and might be one of the main reasons we were talking to Thomas.

I think that is when contracts signed over the summer can be traded...may not apply to rookies, I need to confirm that under the CBA...where's Larry Coon when you need him?

I've tweeted Coon a couple of questions, but have yet to get an answer. There is a reference thread with his CBAFAQ at the very top of the Suns forum page. The answer is likely in there.

Tucker IS not a star player or near one and never will be.
But he is a good defender and hard worker, he also does the dirty jobs here and there.
He is Suns' Bruce Bowen… lite.

Look, I understand why some are upset, mainly because you guys wanted the FO to splash… instead they are making a tiny ripple.
But at ~$5 Million a year, that’s not a bad deal, its also attractive for trades, since teams looking for playoff boost, they can look at Tucker as an option immediately… from Suns point of view they don’t have to take back bad contracts also…. I'm thinking first rounders and/or rookie deals.

I think it's a 30 day wait before they can be traded after they sign. But in general team never sign draft picks they are trading so we can forget stauskas.

Ennis isn't signed yet though.....

Sounds like a deal that scales down. Something like $7.2m, $5.5m, $3.8m

That is a huge sign, that's the suns have no intention of improving this year. That would be the only reason they would overpay him in the first year.

Well late lottery pick here we come again. This is getting old.

Your constant naysaying whine is what's getting old. Why b!tch about signing Tucker. It does not prevent us from signing anyone else does it ? You are so certain with your doom and gloom viewpoint that you can't even acknowledge that may be, just may be Hornacek and McDo's BB vision and judgement may be superior to your vast 30 yrs of watching basketball? Fn fair weather fans around here expect way too much.... And Christ, the off season is really just weeks old.

I guess you think we are done too? That we absolutely won't make any trades soon or during the season ? That none of Len, Goodwin, Plumlee, MoBros, Green, Bled, or Dragic will improve individually and collectively. There is. Strong team concept here where 10 guys need to be ready to play every night. Truth is we have no idea what is going on in the war room right now, but I'll bet tens to turds there is more to come.

I wonder if there is a way to change your name to steamydeuce on my site.... It would be more fitting to the perpetual poop you sling.

If we plan to make a play for a star next season then Tucker makes a lot of sense. He'll definitely add wins this year. Either way it's not that much money. The league average is $5M so 5.5M for a starter is on the very very low end.

Does anyone think we have a chance to get Marc Gasol next year? He would solve a lot of our issues immediately. Then we can pick up a PF like Manimal, Brolo, Horford, Millsap and be set for a serious run.
