He is a pretty reliable source. Also I'd like to apologize for helping start this war between our 2 franchises.

Not a problem.

I honestly feel you guys shouldn't match this offer. I think he has a chance to live up to it here but not as much on a younger team in the tougher western conference. Also with Exum and Hood added to Burks and Burke I feel like you guys are loaded at the wings and PG. Some mid level value vet out there and you guys would be good to go. I feel like you could really use a PF to compliment Favors because Kanter and Favors both need to be at Center are you guys targeting one?

Ya if it were my decision i actually wouldn't match it, I personally don't want him to pay him that much and we already have burks, exum, etc who can play the shooting guard. Jazz fans seem to be split on him, but I would be good with letting him go or doing a sign and trade for a 2nd rounder or something.

Utah would have had to be willing to talk before the offer sheet for a sign and trade I think. There is no incentive for us to do one now because we would not want to give up assets for this expensive a contract and with the options and kickers. I thought we should have tried something ahead of time but oh well.

Can't do a sign and trade now that he signed the offer sheet I don't believe.

That's correct. There is no point of sending the offer sheet without a signature, unless it has a signature but we haven't sent it. I guess sign + trade is still possible if that's the case maybe.

When asked what they would do if Utah matches Clifford reiterated how Cho has contingency plans and that there are still a lot of 'good' players out there. None of them quite fit like Hayward but Clifford seems prepared to help the guys play a different brand of basketball if necessary. He really liked Hayward as the player who makes his teammates better like McRoberts. He also mentioned how Hayward is a 36% career 3-pt shooter. It's really gonna hurt Clifford when the Jazz match.

So it sounds as if Cliff is the one who really pushed to get Hayward, and he wants the guy to be our SF (some here assumed Hayward would play SG) of the future. It's hard to believe Jordan and Cho would let this guy ruin our 2nd overall pick the way that he has, but I guess they're being supportive of the coach and letting him do what he feels is necessary for the team.

Cliff said in his interview that Gordon can play SG and he has a huge size advantage over most SG's, im pretty sure Gordon starts at SG if we get him

I didn't really get that from his interview at all. He stated Hayward can play both SG and SF at a high level.

From NBA.com

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Hornets general manager Rich Cho said the team has extended an offer sheet to free agent Gordon Hayward.

The deal signed Thursday would pay the small forward $63 million over the next four years. The Jazz have until 11:59 p.m. Sunday to match the offer and retain Hayward.

With the offer sheet in place, the sign and trade possibility with the Jazz is no longer an option.

The 6-foot-8 Hayward averaged career highs of 16.2 points, 5.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals last season while leading his team in scoring and minutes played.

The ninth overall pick in the 2010 draft, Hayward has played all four seasons in Utah scoring in double figures 63 times with nine double-doubles while averaging 12 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said he's hopeful the Jazz won't match the offer.

"I feel like we've done everything that we can do," Clifford said. "We hope that they don't match. If they don't, we've significantly improved our wing positions."

Clifford said Hayward has "size, skill, competitiveness" and could play small forward or shooting guard in Charlotte.

"He's 24 years old and he has the talent, the character and the work ethic to be an All-Star player," Clifford said.

Clifford said the Hornets have other plans if they can't land Hayward, but wouldn't discuss them.

We're absolutely going after Lance Stephenson. I will be completely shocked if we don't give him the same treatment we gave Hayward before presenting him with $63 million of Utah's money.

Seeing as we were unwilling to go over the mid-level to re-sign McBob (implying we intend to spend to the cap), there absolutely has to be a high-priced contingency plan in place. Otherwise I'm sure we would've shelled out a little more to keep McBob, since the Heat wouldn't have exceeded the mid-level either.

This assumes Jazz match Hayward, and of course Parsons is already out of reach. Won't be the 3 big fish either. The only other big money FAs are either restricted (Bledsoe, Monroe), vets on the back end (Wade, Deng, Pierce, Gasol), and Stephenson. Gotta think he's our guy.

I don't want to sound as a conspiration theory maker, but I think that's all due to the lack of agreement in the SnT. I think the Jazz wanted MKG, and only him really, Cho and MJ were reluctant to give him up (phew, I'm shaking just for the thought), so the Jazz closed the gates with the "promise" of kicking our butts if we try to sign him the other way. They were in the opinion that we won't have the balls. Now this is the only way they can cross us. :-?

But this LeBron DECISION Volume 2° is helping us big time.
