Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 2
Honestly, once you read, watch and look at everything, it's stupid not to sign this guy, whether you trade someone or not. It's like the draft and taking best player available over need and figuring it out later. But in this case, ESPECIALLY if they are that undervalued. This guy has numbers that far exceed those of Nate Robinson and stuff. I mean 20 and 6 is nothing to joke about.
I think I'd love to have this guy on the team, regardless of who else is here.

Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 2
I'd be worried abt all this talk of shipping one or both of our stud guards for a scorer like IT
but today when I heard abt the tucker extension I realized its so nice to have a GM who bats 1.000.
Bring it home Ryan

I would love to keep them all and just run teams into the ground and see how it goes, and re tool next year based on results.

No. I think it's a good value signing either way. But it definitely would allow them to be more bold in trade negotiations. I think if we sign him there is probably about a 75% chance we trade one of them in the next year. If we don't, maybe a 20% chance. There is a reasonable chance we could do a S&T with Bledsoe going and us getting him, Stauskas and Williams (and maybe a pick) or something.
But having him makes a trade much easier for sure if we feel we need to.

Are you serious? Bledsoe plays DEFENSE Isaiah Thomas is a chucker who doesn't play a lick of defense and defense wins championships or in this case games Defense thats right. So what Bledsoe has had a couple knee surgeries so what and there is nothing to say he won't be a very good player for years to come . Except assumptions from fans who could be wrong and are guessing . Sorry but if you asked me whether or not I would want Bledsoe or do I want I saiah Thomas thats like asking do I want to make the playoffs or not . We all no the answer to that question now don't we .

Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 2
3 guards can play starter's minutes. I think it means Green is moved. 96 minutes between the 1 and 2 spots. Dragic gets most of the 2 minutes (say 35) with Bledsoe taking the remainder (like 10 minutes a game). Bledsoe gets 20 at PG, Thomas gets 28 at PG. Dragic plays 35 minutes a game, Bledsoe gets 33, Thomas gets 28. Green gets moved. It's a feasible rotation.

Not 100.
It's likely though that Bledsoe is gone.
If they do keep all 3 I think it's insurance. Solid PG if dragic bails.

What's IT's ceiling though compared to Bledsoe?
Maybe not as high but I don't see Bledsoe's as much higher either. I'm also surprised that EB's injury history is not more of a concern for this board. I know I said this before but Bledsoe has already missed 1/4th of his nba career due to injuries and last year was his 1st starting. So we have a low mileage PG signed to a long term contract that already has pretty major injury concerns.
Another thing I've noticed is I think his defense is overrated. Don't get me wrong hes a good defender but nothing that blows me out of the water, certainly doesnt make him worth 6 million more a year that Thomas.

I don't know about his ceiling, but even his current stats looks pretty good to me. http://bkref.com/tiny/zhLZS
Bledsoe MAY have a higher ceiling but IT had a little better numbers this year and has been in the league one year less than Bledsoe. Bledsoe obviously better defensively but pg defense is kind of overrated considering the good pgs get their stuff done regardless...it's the rim protector that really counts on D.

So I'm assuming you've watched a ton of Thomas to be able to comment on his defense. Also, defense doesn't necessarily win championships, balance does.

Sign Monroe 5 years 65 million
13 million a year
Sign Isaiah Thomas 4 years 32million
14 million 1st year
6 million a year last 3
Trade bledsoe, green, Len , 2 1st for love and Kevin Martin ( salary dump for them)
Thomas ( ennis) ( Goodwin)
Dragic (Martin) ( Goodwin)
Tucker ( Warren)
Love ( Morris)
Monroe( Plumlee)
Young team deal team that could play with anybody in the NBA due to the depth and balance

No. IT is super-sixth man.
I'ld be ecstatic if we got him for 6 million a year.
I hate to say it and I don't agree with it, but Greivis Vazquez got $6.5/ yr from the Raps...... IT beet him for the starting job, if memory serves. Greivis is tall, but he didn't average 20 and 6 either.
Whoever is good with lists, someone grab a list that shows who put up 20 and 6 from the PG or SG positions last year...it can't be very long.
His size and defense worries me tremendously, front load the deal, and add TO's after each year on a rich deal. 8,7,6....3 yr $21 mil.
I will pull one up and edit this post with a link in a second.
Definitely not a terrible list to be on. http://bkref.com/tiny/zhLZS
Great work on that BW...thanks.
That list is a very elite list. It should be noted that not even Dragic is on that list....ugh. IT will be paid. That rumored DET deal of $24/3 could even be seen as a steal considering some of the company. Kyrie was also on a losing team last year, had very similar numbers and he just got a max extension. And IT did it in the Western conference. That said his PER is higher than Kyrie's also, which would take into account his defensive presence. I worry a little that once teams start scouting IT, his game will diminish.
Any chance we get a defensive stats breakdown from anyone? BW?

If they let Bled go to the Bucks and sign IT as the replacement, how bad will our defense be?

A chucker? Come on dude, feel free to admit you've never watched him play once.

Man, I couldn't agree more. I cannot believe, for one, that people are not more worried about Bledsoe's injuries. It's almost as if we have people who think they are doctors saying "those were not bad....he will be totally fine from here on out" and then they all vote that they are fine giving him 16 million a year? I love his D, but yes, PG defense is a bit overrated. Did we ever say "KJ/Nash...they are going up Payton/Kidd tonight so they won't be able to get it done". I mean, it's a bit absurd. The only D that stops great offensive point guards is the guy in the middle. Sure, some make it a little bit tougher, but the good ones navigate well enough to do what they do.
I mean, I now I've been accused as being anti Bledsoe, but I"d like to have him on the team. But paying him $16 million a year, to me is ridiculous. I"d match an offer not to lose him and hope he stays healthy, but God help us if he end up out most of the time.

Though it's not a perfect indicator, just read in his stats that 32% of his shots were assisted, which suggests he can play off the ball on offense some.

Re: The One And Only Offseason Thread 2
Also I wanted to post this earlier but I was at work. The Pj Tucker signing is going to pay off itself in more ways than one. I know this is a little out in "center field" but can you imagine how much of a better baseball player Griffey jr would have been if they had someone in his ear about getting in the weight room, working hard and not just counting on his natural ability. Granted, Griffey had enough skill to be a HOF but if he took care of his body he would be holding about 97 records right now.
PJ is going to be that guy for our young kids. I'm TOTALLY down with the price and the signing. And to be honest I was hoping we wouldn't match what I thought he was going to be offered. One more thing, you can bet your balls next year a championship caliber team is going to be knocking on our door for him.... another asset in the hole.

An opposing team can't give a free agent a 5 year deal, and if by some miracle you were able to get Monroe to accept a deal at 13 mill per (sub max) I assure you the Pistons would match it in a heartbeat.
