I don't think Danny Ferry has a clue, either...

The Hawks will waive John Salmons Thursday, according to a person familiar with the situation. However, the team is currently exploring all its options in regard to the player.

Hahaha waiving him is better than absorbing a contract mediocre i suppose. I just think salmons was the perfect trade chip to get an insurance policy like Dudley for example if we strike out in FA

Let's just offer Bazemore some money. Resign brand and Mack. Call it a summer.

It's almost like 1 hour until the deadline, so obviously we haven't gotten any good offers for him. Why haven't we waived him yet?

It's past the deadline now. I haven't seen any reports that have stated we waived him? So did we waive him or not?

*Ferry walks into his home, after a long day browsing RealGM for Lebron announcement confirmations, while on company time*

Mrs Ferry: Welcome home dear! Did you remember to pickup that milk on the way back from work?

Ferry: Sure did! I wouldn't want you cross at me like that. Ohohoho!

Mrs Ferry: OH, You! Also, did you remember to waive John Salmons? I saw that little post-it note you left up on the fridge last week.

Ferry: ........... FML.

Yeah, I don't think that's possible. Ferry must have like 5-10 assistants doing little things for him, in order to manage all the business paperwork and stuff.

But it's weird that there hasn't been any announcement of the waiving of Salmons prior to midnight.

That's what I'm saying I can't find any announcements anywhere? Like how does that go un-announced?

I did a quick Google search, and the latest news was from like 12 hours ago, stating that the Hawks were likely to waive Salmons before the end of business on 07/10/14.

Then I did a search based on the latest results in the previous hour, at the latest, and all I got was:

You had one job, Ferry.

One ******* job dude.

So if you guys don't waive Salmons, why did you guys give up both Williams and Bebe for him?
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I too like many Raps fans had this date marked down on our calendar, to officially not have to see Salmons on an NBA team again next season, much less on our own roster but...

The goal was to land a big FA star/name player. If ferry strikes out he's going to strike out swinging; he never just sits back during the off season. I honestly think ferry thought salmons was trade bait. Like a team could have traded us a draft pick or a player we were interested in and then the other team could waive salmons to create cap room for them. But apparently that plan failed and i HOPE TO GOD that we waived him..

Seems like a far fetched plan. Considering Williams and Bebe are good pieces and I don't recall Atlanta being a part of any stars considerations

Lebron froze the entire free agency process which killed any plans people might have had for Salmons. He was extremely valuable, but we were unable to move him due to 90% of the NBA in "Do nothing" mode until Lebron decides.

Finally, someone has something about Salmons. Looks like he was released.

As planned, the Hawks requested waivers on John Salmons Thursday. The team made the announcement Friday morning.

The Hawks had a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Thursday to waive Salmons. The teams agreed to a waiver deadline extension of Thursday in the deal. Salmons, who is due $7 million this season, will receive a $1 million buyout. The move clears salary cap space for the Hawks. The team has approximately $11 million in salary cap space.

The waited until near the deadline to request waivers on Salmons as they explored options to acquire another asset, either a player or a draft pick, in a trade.

The Hawks did indeed waive the guy Thirsday. It's just that no one cared to report on it.

Hawks and Salmons are both so far off the NBA radar...

Well, we have $11 millionin cap space (according to C-Viv). If we include Millsap in a sign and trade, that gives us upward of $20 million to play around with.

Please D Ferry. Do something. We are simply treading water as is.

Draft picks or a young star. No one is sacred anymore.

Oh thank God, that we now live in a world where John Salmons is not on a basketball team.
