Chris Bosh

Post#1 » by Temuhjan » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:19 am

Did anyone notice while Chris Bosh has added three-point range last season, his rebounds and assists numbers has been on steady decline for each of the 4 years he is in town? Any thoughts?

Rebounds
10.8 (2009/10) -> 8.3 -> 7.9 -> 6.8 -> 6.6 (2013/14)

Assists
2.4 (2009/10) -> 1.9 -> 1.8 -> 1.7 -> 1.1 (2013/14)

Sleeping at the 3 point line wont help you to rebound better and when he finally sees the ball, he takes the shot (So ---> Assist

Well.. how do you explain Kevin Love having 4.4 assists while jacking up almost double the number of 3's?

Because Love is #1 option on the Wolves and his usage % would be much higher then Bosh's.

nothing more to add to this

edit. For those that dont want Heat basketball, Spo wants the bigs in our system to guard the three point line and hedge on point guards then recover for help defense. Thats on defense, on offense he wants bigs and power forwards to drift towards the elbow about a foot away from the three point line to clear space so (at the time) "Wade can create." This all came about at the start of 2007 after Spo thought Hero ball was a great idea. We havnt gone back since.

Its near impossible for to guard the three point line on D, hedge point guards and clear the lane on offense then recover fast enough to be in a great position for rebounds. Bosh developed the 3 because he was already being pushed out there and he might as well take the three instead of a 21ft 2 point shot.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Your defending of this clueless coach is down right disgusting. Almost as bad as the Cavs fans that thought Mike Brown was a good coach.

The one good thing about lebron leaving will be that we will all be seeing just how bad a coach this moron truly is.

Amen bro. People here just can't appreciate how good they've had it for 4 years....Spo ain't perfect, but he's damn good and was a factor in our title wins. Sad that Heat fans can't see that.

Well you won't be here to see it will you? It's clear from your sign up date and your pointless negative posts that you're not a Heat fan.

Another idiot for the foe list.

Minutes and pace matter too. And we don't attack the offensive glass as a team, we send our bigs back on D instead, so his drop in oreb% is pretty unremarkable. So the real question is his defensive rebounding (which also is one of our difficulties defensively)

Bosh has been a 20 Drb% basically his entire career. The last 10 years, 6 of those years were between 20-21% and 1 was at 22%. Then you have 2 outliers high (24.8 and 25.2) and one outlier low (17.6). But he's been consistent (outliers in bold)

05 - 20.0
06 - 20.6
07 - 24.8
08 - 20.1
09 - 22.1
10 - 25.2
11 - 20.0
12 - 20.5
13 - 17.6
14 - 20.3

His drb% last season was pretty normal. His median Drb% for the last 10 years is 20.4, last season he was at 20.3. His mean drb% for the last 10 years was 21.1, not much higher than last season's 20.3.

The mistake is using 2010 as a baseline, because it was a total outlier compared to 4 of the 5 years prior to it

While Kevin Love is probably a bit more talented of a passer than Bosh, Bosh is no slouch in that department.

The comparison to Kevin Love's numbers is silly because of usage (as mentioned by another poster). Fun fact: Bosh's numbers as the #1 option for the Raptors in 2010 are VERY similar to Love's this past season. Despite that, Love's usage rate this season was significantly higher than Bosh's in 2010. IMO that speaks to Love's potential inability to replicate that sort of impact while having a smaller chunk of opportunity.

I have a suggestion for you: try to UNDERSTAND basketball instead of making judgments just by looking at stats.

There are posters on realgm who post 10-15 or even 20 times per day. Some might thing they are some great posters, but usually they tend to be idiots who have little (if any) understanding of the game. They probably don't have time to read and get educated because they use that time for posting stupid crap.

Oh, I totally agree with you, with a better coach it would have been 4 out of 4.

I am not meant to compare the two here. That's not the motivation of my post. I am just curious why Bosh has been regressing in both the rebounds and assists categories in each of the past 4 seasons.

Well it seemed your initial question has been answered satisfactorily. Is it so bad to have a conversation evolve?

Nonetheless, It was a convenient choice to characterize Bosh's regression in these categories with a comparison to LeBron's likely running mate should he go to Cleveland.

no we couldnt have.

No one was beating the spurs in the finals last year. NO ONE. michael jordans bulls probaly wouldnt of beaten the fine tuned engine that is the 2013/2014 spurs.

The same case can be made against the Mavs 4 years ago.

with James going back to Clev, why not just match Hou offer? Still think Bosh is a legit #2 if you just let him operate the way he use to in Tor. Could still make playoffs with Wade/Bosh if Wade gets back into shape.
