More Hibbert Inquiry Rumors

Post#1 » by SmashMouthRod » Fri Jul 11, 2014 12:29 am

I was told by an NBA official that the Bucks also had discussions with Indiana and were interested in acquiring veteran Pacers center Roy Hibbert, who hasn’t performed up to his lofty contract. Hibbert’s contract calls for him to earn $14.89 million next season. He then has a player-option the following season for $15.51M. Racine Journal-Times

Does this seem like a good trade partner? Maybe Henson can be had. Obviously if less salary is taken back; this would help to keep Lance and maybe snag another free agent. There are rumors that they are trying to pawn off Sanders; but I dont like that trade idea. THoughts?

John Henson is incredibly small (220 lbs) even for a PF, so a Henson-West frontcourt would be just as terrible as the Scola-West lineup was. Unless you're comfortable starting Lavoy Allen or Ian Mahinmi, of course...

It would have to be Sanders, but even then, he's had his head up his ass since he got his big contract, so he's just as much of a headcase as Lance, though he's physically pretty dominating as a center when he actually tries.

Maybe Lance can blow some foo foo dust in Sanders' ear and fix his bad attitude.

I'd take Giannis Antetokounmpo off their hands.

Jabari Parker too. :D

What if the offer is Henson and ZaZa? I would consider it. Henson can be the future at the 4. And Zaza can play solid defense and rebound. Not to mention his contract is reasonable.

I would take the Greek freak or Parker no questions asked. I would even throw in a pick.

No way they are giving up Giannis though. I like Henson but he's too thin. And I really would not want to risk having Sanders. I'd probably ask for Mallory Edens and Bango for Hibbert.

I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Sanders, he is after all a consistent double-double threat and like Hibb he's no slouch on defense. I'd do something like:

Hibbert/Scola/Watson for Sanders/ Knight/Henson

We could create an additional 3 mill in space while maintaining a very good rim protector. You never know, maybe Henson is available too. The Bucks actually prefered Middleton over him as the season progressed, leading me to believe he wore down and needs to get stronger. Regardless, Indy needs some incentive and Henson has enough potential to offset the loss of a righteous person like Roy.

Re-sign Lance at 10 per, move Hill to 6th man, and start Knight at PG.

Also, like Scoot mentioned, it would be beneficial to work out a S&t with Cleveland in regards to Miles. Basically Miles' salary would only hit the books for 1.5 million if they accept Cope. Yep. Sounds good.

Jordan Crawford anyone?

with offers like Parson's and Hayward's out there, I expect Lance to hold out for the max. I don't want to pay that and so I wouldn't trade Roy to get room to sign Lance at 10 because I don't think that plan works. I keep Roy and hope Lance's replacements learn how to feed the post.

I think the are some possibilities with Milwaulke.

I've always liked Larry Sanders on the floor. Not sure what happened off. I'd like to think our veteran locker room could turn him around. But, the idea of Lance and Larry together is reminiscent of the mid 2000's. I like the idea of being more athletic though.

I wanted us to draft Nate Wholters last year. Still like him. Maybe Hibbert for Sanders and Wholters? Or ZaZa and Knight for Hibbert?

If Lance wants the max, I don't want him back. That's a big, big overpay.

I'd go Hibbert and Scola for Sanders and Henson.
I don't think there's any way you want Lance and Sanders in the same locker room though. Too much crazy...

I'd hope, but hard not to think so when you see Hayward and Parsons getting the max, too. Production wise alone, he should be right there with them. It's just, the other things.

I sAw some column the other day about a trade trying to "turn Roy's career around." Good God, the guy had a very inconsistent and frustrating second half, but he's 27 and it's not like he completely disappeared that entire stretch. Granted, his contract makes it easier and more valid to gripe, but be still was an all-star and was 2nd in DPOY voting all that despite. "Needing a career turnaround" is a little overblown.

I agree. And the truth is that a lot of these media outlets are clueless about basketball or sports in general they just need a news story to keep there jobs.

I would want Knight and Saunders/Henson and probably a protected pick too, none of these guys have performed nearly to the level of Hibbert.

Larry Sanders would need to be a starting point. Pacers can build the offense around Paul George and Sanders would fit well with the teams defense and "smash mouth" basketball. He doesn't seem like a guy very worried about offense.

Bird would need to make sure Sanders is healthy and make sure they can go forward with him staying off trouble off-court.
