Remember who LeBron is and what he's said in the past. He reportedly has this incredible memory that he's said is both a gift and a curse. He never forgets those who have wronged him. Here are some of his past tweets:

TRUTH!!

Listen to Deion, nobody would ever go back to the Bron, nobody.

And so it begins.

Get ready for athletes to go and tell LBJ something along the lines of Deion's statement.

Believe it or not. I've actually seen more athletes say they want him to go back to Cleveland. Strange.

Ill tell you what, I don't know if the letter story is a plant or not, and if so, who is planting it.

But from a pro-Heat perspective it seems to be a master stroke. The entire story today from all angles has turned quite suddenly into "He'd be a **** madman with no self-respect to return to Cleveland after that. Remember the fans? The remarks about his mom? etc."

Yesterday "Heat didn't treat his friends and mom right! Riley's press conference didn't go well with Lebron!"

I mean this is good for us, this could be planted to make his decision going to Miami easier and putting the blame on Gilbert. The fans would turn on him, he hasn't even apologized yet

Won't get my hopes up cause only Broussard of all damn people broke this story.

because nobody wants him to stay in miami. HIm going back to cleveland is a better story, it also makes him less of a threat. That Cleveland team, even with lebron, isnt winning jack **** anytime soon

My thoughts exactly. I'm not sure Melo is the kind of guy that can put his ego aside enough to 1- take less to play with others, then 2- share the ball as much as he would need to be playing effectively with LBJ and Wade.

For all the talk in cyberspace, the last few days especially, being the fascination with LeBron being so image conscious yet tone-deaf, this letter "leak" (if we could even call it that) could be related.

I don't think it's a stretch to assume the people in charge were eating up all the attention and speculation and loving that he was being celebrated as a hero despite a four year narrative of him as a villain. Then, when it looked like Cleveland talked itself into this actually happening and we get 85% on ESPN from Broussard and 100% from Sheridan and then he goes on ESPN radio to talk about it and the mood shifted to inevitability, his people realize (too late) that this has gotten to the point of no-return and he may be worse than 2010 if he decides on Miami. Then the logical leaks start (remember the letter, what they said about his mom, and the environment when he returned).

LeBron can't be down to two teams and then quash the Cleveland rumors, it'd start a riot. This seems to be part of a kill-the-fervor strategy. It would certainly suggest Miami is still in the lead, but at this point, it's clear it's been mismanaged from day 1. Whether it's bad leaks (possible) lazy reporting of hunches and hopes as sourced information (possible) or just LeBron being a 29 year old who doesn't know what he wants (possible) it's pretty clear he's not going to come out of this looking good, but at the same time, the last two days seem to be as much about damage control as anything.

Because the Media tells people it will be a feel good story if he goes back to Cleveland and they believe it. It's like people completely forgot the crap roster he was surrounded with, how he was treated when he left and how awful the team has been since he left. If he goes fine, but let's not pretend it's this great feel good story. If anything it's just bizarre.

The Good

LeBron James has never been arrested. He’s never gotten into a public feud with teammates or coaches. He’s never become embroiled in any controversy away from basketball.

The Bad

For that, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert wrote, “This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown ‘chosen one’ sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And ‘who’ we would want them to grow-up to become.”

The Observation

I wouldn’t blame LeBron for still holding a grudge over that letter – especially because, as of this year, Gilbert was still defending it and the Cavaliers’ official website was still hosting it until just a few days ago.

Lebron never once said he was interested in Cleveland this year. Crazy how this story grew to this size.

It would. It's almost too good to be true. If he can get Cleveland to trade away wiggins for Love only to pull out the rug from under them and have Love leave in a year would be the ultimate gangsta FU. Demolishing Sheridan's credibility in the process as payback for the 1st team snub almost pushes it over the edge.
