Well, Utah's expected to match the offer sheet to Hayward from Charlotte, so Boston should offer Charlotte Bradley in exchange for Kidd-Gilchrist.

For me, this morning's trade makes Bass the most expendable player on the team.

Between the 4 and 5, assuming you want to give Sully and Olynyk close to 30mpg, and Zeller 24ish, that leaves 12 for Bass (less any minutes for Fav, Iverson, or anyone else we want to try to develop a little bit). At 6.9mil next year?

Plus, he's a solid role-player that some teams might actually have use for.

I really want to see him combined with Bogans now to bring back someone's expiring-overpaid-player and some type of asset(s).

That's pretty much why I think they need a vet big on a short contract. They want to make the playoffs and those guy's average age has got to be 20 at best.

Plenty of other options though. Boozer on amnesty or something.

Can't believe I'm even bringing this up because I'm not a fan of this but what about,

Bass, Anthony, Thornton, Bogans for Amare Stoudemire plus something.

Consolidate roster and get a 20-25 mpg center and a player that will make KO look like KG on defense.

Thoughts?

This is like a last resort type trade.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday.

New York gets decent role players (Bass & Thornton) and gets rid of Amar'e.
Boston clears roster space (we have too many players), gets one large expiring, and gets incentive.
Depends on what incentive NYK would give up though.

CHI gives up Boozer, incentive for Gasol, Thornton.
LAC gives up Gasol for Bass, incentive from Chicago.
BOS gives up Thornton/Bass for Boozer, incentive.

- CHI gets Gasol and a shooter off of the bench. LAC gets a decent PF and a little incentive, BOS gets incentive for turning two role players into Boozer.

Only can trade thornton in individual trade, if other players are included we should wait to 6 months.

Here's an idea to clear Gerald Wallace's salary from the cap next year and reduce our glut at PF. Please note that this is an idea for a situation where Ainge is unable to get a deal done to bring in Love or some other talented players this year:

NYK trade: Amare
NYK get: Bass, Wallace, Bogans
NYK rationale: The Knicks have new management and it looks like they're going to re-sign Carmelo so this enables them to put a more competitive team on the floor without sacrificing much of their future cap room. They can cut Bogans right away, so they actually save money this year. Bass expires at the end of the year and is a useful player, and Wallace only has 1 more year on his deal at $10 million, so not an albatross at that point.

Boston trades: Bass, Wallace, Bogans
Boston gets: Amare
Boston's rationale: Frees up more time for Sullinger and Olynyk, and clears cap space for 2015 free agents. Boston would only have Jeff Green ($9 million player option) and team options on a bunch of young guys left on the books if it did this deal.

Nice idea but NY isn't doing this. They aren't giving up lots of cap room next year to be marginally better this year. I'm not even sure NY would be willing to do this with the best Brooklyn pick thrown in.

What if we offer all our non-guaranteed contracts + Wallace for Amare? We can take more than what we send and if they cut those guys immediately they will actually be able to get under the luxury tax limit, even with Melo re-signing.

How about a straight salary dump for Green- Bynum/Datome/2nd for Jeff Green? Boston continues to rebuild, Detroit gets a SF.

Doesn't seem like an Ainge trade. Green's got an option for next year and it's highly unlikely he opts in, so he's not really clogging our cap. And that deal offers no appealing assets.

The price for Jeff Green is probably similar to the price Morey set for Asik: no long-term money coming back and a good pick.

I think Pekovic is my new favorite target if the much-rumored Wiggins/Love deal is consummated.

I wonder if the Hornets wants Wallace back if Hayward signs with the Jazz.

Or the Heat ? For MIA 2nd rounder and Anthony ? Anthony can be re-acquired now by the Heat.

If Bosh and LeBron left their cap holds dissapear without renouncing them correct ?

So they should be under the cap now, if Both Bosh and LeBron left.

Maybe McRoberts signs using their cap room instead, same with Granger.

Or both could just walk away, as they only verbally agreed.

Disappointed Danny did not get Lin for Bogans, Babb and Johnson. We could have copped another no. 1 pick for nothing.

'Come on Danny! Get in the game!

Maybe Bogans for Dunleavy & Snell if the Bulls need space for Melo. Get a distant protected no. 1.

I don't think another overpaid bench guard is worth a late first in our situation. Overkill.

I think we hang on to Bogans for awhile in hopes another big name hits the market before the trade deadline.

If Love goes to CLE, Rondo options?

1. Keep him
2. Offer to HOU for Harden
3. Offer to UTA for Kanter/Exum
4. Offer to CHA for Kemba, MKG, Biyombo and/or Vonleh
5. Offer to NYK with GW for boatload of future picks
6. Offer to MIA, same
7. IND for Hibbert
8. DET for Monroe, 1st
9. PHI for Embiid
10. ???

In my opinion talk of trading Rondo is premature.

First off, free agency has really just started. You never know which players might become available over the next few weeks, let alone at the trade deadline.

Second, unlike Love or some other star players on teams that aren't in the running for a title, Rondo has never made a peep about not wanting to be here. If anything he has said the opposite -- I think he recognizes that being a captain means something and that Boston is a great franchise with good ownership and management/coaching.

Third, even if Ainge can't bring in another star this year, in 2015 we will have a ton of cap space and assets to acquire other players. I don't think re-signing Rondo and bringing on a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge or Marc Gasol (to name a couple unrestricted free agents in 2015) is totally out of the question. If worse comes to worse and Ainge can't find any guys to come play in Boston he could still try to sign & trade Rondo at that point.

Fourth, Rondo's value can't be very high right now. He only played 30 games last year and was working his way back from injury, so I think if he were to come out and show he has regained his old form that would only increase his value either at the trade deadline or in the offseason.

I'm not saying a Rondo trade is impossible -- it just doesn't seem likely now.
