Not gonna lie, SAS is connected. He knows people. I tend to believe when he says his sources are right unless they are lying to him.

He's as legit as they come on NBA insider info.

I gotta be honest. I wouldn't give a damn about basketball if it wasn't for this guy. If Wade goes to Chicago, I'm gonna have to just be a neutral GB guy first and Heat fan second. I can't stomach joining the enemy (chicago) on their board and full on bandwagoning. I love UD and Beasley and I'm becoming fond of Ennis so I can't completely abandon the team I've repped through thick and thin for 8 years.

This is ****ing depressing man

A Wade-Bosh + PG improvement and a legitimate big can still be pretty **** scary, too.

I am good with that and not missing the point but it is a little shocking to see that the entourage not having power here was such a big factor according to SAS. :-?

Maybe you can shed more light on that.

You don't know what you got 'till it's gone. At the rate things are going, the only things that will remain from the last 4 years will be the Championship banners and Spobot.

It's crazy how much can change in one day.

We don't need Pat Riley we need DON RILEY right **** NOW! There are great pieces left, to put us in the top 3 teams in the East, I would to smack the CAVs out this year for what they did, and DON RILEY should sell Bosh on that.

And you'll only hear crickets from the national media because the popular narrative is that there are no real Heat fans. That the bodies in those seats at AAA don't belong to fans, but mindless drones.

I think there's a racial element to this as well that many people don't want to get into because it threatens their privilege. Places with overwhelmingly white fan bases are always the ones that are considered "real fans" and "hardcore". Meanwhile cities with more diverse fan bases (Miami and Los Angeles) are considered simple, uneducated, fair-weather, etc. The Knicks are only an exception because so many members of the media grew up and still are Knicks fans.

Believe me, if the best player in the NBA left Oklahoma City or Dallas without thanking the fans he'd have hell to pay in the media. But that's the way it is. And before the post-racial crowd comes jumping in to deny reality, I've lived in Miami and Los Angeles. There are many, many seriously hardcore fans in both places that frighten me in their loyalty and ferocity. So no, there is no basis for this stereotype.

A further example, notice how the media fawns over the Oklahoma City crowds and how rabid and loyal they are. The team's been around for less than a decade, and I've dozens and dozens of article praising them. Yet, in Oakland where I live today and where fans have been committed and loyal through waaaay more adversity are rarely given the same kind of positive publicity.

Not totally denying your hypothesis because that could have something to do with it. But I think it has more to do with jealousy than racism. Miami and LA have wealthy, attractive, "who's who" type crowds. Both cities are famed for being glamorous, decadent, and basically awesome.

The crowds that get love are the blue collar crowds in crappy cities, and generally with mediocre teams. Nobody envies some chubby, middle class Detroit fan rooting for Charlie Villanueva, so they get love. But some millionaire with a fake tan and whitened teeth who gets to root for the defending champs at a Heat game and bring his 25-year old model girlfriend to the game? Pretty much the entire country can agree on saying screw that guy, whether or not he's a true fan, whether or not he's a minority, etc. The only way you're knocking that type of fan down a peg is to call him a fake fan. So that's how it goes.

Definitely like our chances against them with Wade + Bosh. Not going to say we'd be favored, but that Cleveland team is young and untested.

Makes you appreciate a guy like Kobe who, for better or worse, has always made his own decisions.

This is total bs. I'm so tired of the hero worshipping of "alpha dogs" in basketball. What is with the obsession with **** who try to posture all the time and flex their "masculinity". Why do people have such hard ons for people who treat everyone around them like **** in order to get ahead? Why is it better to be ruthlessly competitive rather than cooperative and collaborative? Every "alpha" I've ever met in my life was secretly deeply insecure and borderline paranoid often with something hidden in their closet. I don't hate a guy like LeBron he doesn't try to step on others to get ahead and I find that admirable.

What are you talking about? I don't think you understand the alpha/beta distinction. Being an alpha has nothing to do with stepping on people or being a dick. It's just about being your own man and leading others, not being led. Kobe isn't an alpha because he's ruthless. He's an alpha because he doesn't have a posse pulling the strings of his life.

LeBron got led to Miami by Wade, then steered back to Cleveland by Maverick Carter and Rich Paul. He's weak-minded. If LeBron wanted to go back to Cleveland, fine. But hearing that it's been Paul and Carter pushing him that way for 3 years? That's weak. This is the second-biggest decision of his career. He needs to own it, not let other people influence him.

When Kobe was demanding the Lakers upgrade, demanding more from his teammates, feuding with Shaq, do you think it was because someone he knew from his AAU years was whispering in his ear? Hell no. Kobe does what Kobe does because it's what Kobe wants to do.

No, what are you talking about? You act as if you have a secret portal into the psyche of LeBron James. Wade didn't strap a leash to him and drag him to Miami. He came here because he wanted to win and play with his friends and he knew that the winning part wouldn't happen in Cleveland because they had no cap flexibility and a sub-par roster so he made the best decision for himself.

Any speculation about Carter and Paul dragging him back to Cleveland is just that, speculation. I think he made the decision because he thought it'd be the best for his legacy and because he trusted Cleveland's roster more than Miami's going forward. Kobe isn't an alpha because he's ruthless? BS. That's why so many wanna-be alphas who wish they were powerful worship him so blindly. Show me ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE that LeBron made either of his free agency decisions based on anything but his own free will and I'll back down. But you won't find anything but media speculation.

LeBron's PR team wrote that letter. He thinks Wade is done and that the Cavs will have a better supporting cast next year than what was possible in Miami. He left because he wants to be a part of a championship teams and make the most of his career. Not because he was controlled and coerced by his entourage.
