You start with LeBron, the unquestioned best player in basketball, who now has all the positive press of "coming home" to ride into this season with. People have been busy hating him for the last 5 years or so, and while they were slowly turning, this is the type of move that will really shift the perspective on him.
Then you have Kyrie, a guy who hasn't proven a ton on the court, but has already become a hit off of it, and has the kind of flashy game that fans fall in love with.
Now if you add Love to the mix, you have arguably the best white American basketball player since Larry Bird... and whether it matters to you or me, let's not kid ourselves, it matters a ton to the casual basketball fan.
This has all the makings of a very loved team. And yeah, its a little annoying because the way they came together won't be THAT different from the Heat (Wade/Kyrie both drafted by team, LeBron comes over in free agency, and another power forward comes over except in Love's case he'll be forcing a trade rather than signing), and yet this team will be praised endlessly while ours was hated going on 4 years. But what can ya do.
Also, I wonder if Kyrie, Love and LeBron will make a team-up commercial all playing their older basketball alter-egos. They've all done one before, Kyrie's and Love's even came together. I'd like to see that
Did Mchale, Stockton, Dirk, Nash and Mullin never exist in your universe?

Re: 2014 Heat Offseason Thread 11.0 - Thundercats!
You know, one of the silver linings for me in all of this is that as much as I absolutely loved this era of Heat basketball, there were times I'd watch teams bigger or more versatile than us bully us around a bit and long for an old-school Pat Riley team that wouldn't put up with that ****.
Locking up the Big 3 was worth it, no doubt about it, but we also gave up our ability to put together a complete team out there. That's what prevented a team with that level of overwhelming talent at the top from becoming a dynasty for the ages. With LeBron James and prime Wade and more size + a PG upgrade + more athleticism, as opposed to another max and then the MLE and vet minimum castoffs, that team wins easily in 2011. Steamrolls right past Dallas. And maybe Wade stays much closer to his prime, as well, and we would have had the depth to stay fresh, stay on our game, and beat San Antonio this past season, too. We had epic talent, but the cost of that was gaping holes throughout the rest of our roster.
LeBron is gone, and that's gut wrenching for us all, but now we also have a chance to, even if not right away, start putting together a more complete roster going forward. Bosh is still very valuable. He can go back to the 4, and if we can utilize him better, rather than as a distant third option, we can maybe get him back closer to Toronto Bosh than recent-memory Bosh. Wade is NOT done. He's not Top 5 Dwyane Wade anymore, but believe me, he is not done. And at least LeBron sort of slowed free agency down enough where we can still put together a plan B. I'm sure they always had one floating around just in case.
Maybe we'll compete next year, maybe we won't. But at least it's not immediately game over for us like it was for Cleveland in 2010 when LeBron announced he was coming down here.

I dont understand the people that dont want to retain Bosh. Bosh at the max is an overpay, but if we dont offer 5 years, he is going to Houston. I'd rather stay in the playoffs for a few years and try to add pieces than immediately tank. Bosh is still good and Wade is good if healthy, if Riley can keep some momentum going it would be better for the franchise. Riley isn't even good at drafting, so this fascination with tanking is strange.

I said white American since Bird. McHale played WITH Bird, Mullin is not better than Love (imo), and Dirk and Nash aren't Americans (Nash is pretty close though).

Re: 2014 Heat Offseason Thread 11.0 - Thundercats!
We can now utilize Bosh better now
No more third option
But who we throw money at now? Lol
What is Lebron was holding out to do this the whole time
What if bosh set us up to throw the max and used Houston the whole time. Ok I am crazy
