You do not pay about 7 million a year for a guy to be a backup when you already have two starting point guards, plus other true shooting guards. They can offer the Wolves Bledsoe, the Morris Brothers, and maybe the return of the Minnesota pick for Love, or overpay to sign Gasol. They need a proven, big time scoring frontcourt player. That is their biggest weakness right now.

The Wolves could care less about that draft pick. Its worthless to them. If they lose Love, they will be a lotto team again, thus still covered under the protection of the pick. After next years draft it turns into 2 2nd round picks. Its garbage to them.

Okay. Well Flip Saunders said he wants players that can help him win now. Eric Bledsoe and the Morris brothers are just that. An up and coming potential all star point guard, a legitimate scoring power forward, and a swingman that could get much better. I do not see a better offer out there than that except if the Cavs give up Andrew Wiggins.

I don't think we have to offer Bledsoe the max now. What team needs a point guard and has the cap space to give him a max?

Milwaukee is the only team left rumored to want Bledsoe - but they can't even offer a max to him.

I say we offer a fair deal (Dragic makes 7.5mil, IT2 just signed for 6.5mil) - let's offer him 8mil. :D

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read.

Thomas put up 20 and 6 on great efficiency, while Frye camped on the three point line waiting for another open shot to brick.

You can't convince a superstar to come to a team that can't even get to an 8th seed by themselves. How are you expecting that superstar to come in *and* launch us immediately from where you want us to be, which is right near the bottom, immediately to the top?

You need to build the foundation for a superstar player to say "hmmm, you know what, if I went there, they could go from a 6th-8th seed to the top of the conference."

Getting good players does that. Deng is a good player. If not him there are some other good players, too. Is Deng at the top of my wishlist? Of course not. But I'm not going to act like a weepy vagina if we signed him.

You'd think we'd have gotten rid of this loser mentality after we won 48 games last year after being expected to win 20, but I guess not.

I agree that the "not the 8th seed!!!" line of thinking is a poor argument against signing Deng.

The reason I don't want to sign Deng is that quite simply, I don't think he's worth his asking price. What made our team so wonderful last season was the Dragic/Bledsoe combination. They NEED spacing in order to play the way they did last year. With Channing/Tucker staying outside the 3 point line, they had all the room in the world to slice/dice their way to becoming the "Slash Brothers".

Deng is strictly a midrange guy: he shot 30% from 3 last season. And he's not really all that efficient otherwise, either. His TS last season was higher than it had been the previous 2 years, but it was still only .516; for comparison's sake, renowned chucker Russel Westbrook clocks in at .545.

He's not going to suddenly become a marksman at 29 years old.

If you can get Deng at like 6 million on a short deal, then sure. But he's going to want more money, more years, and I don't think he's worth it.

This AND because now that Miami signed Bosh, if the ALSO sign Deng, they can't offer Bledsoe the max. I am all for Miami signing Deng so we can keep Bledsoe at a reasonable price. The Lakers are already likely out of the market for Bledsoe after the Lin trade, so that pretty much just leaves Miami and perhaps Milwaukee (who can't really offer a full max anyway). (Sorry if this has been discussed...I've been behind....saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes...damn good flick).

It's just silly to have all this $$$ tied up into backcourt with barely anything upfront.....

We're actually in a really interesting position. We've got a top-tier young player locked up for 4-5 years, and he's expendable. Most teams only have one player of that caliber. We surely have a lot of currency to bring to the trade market. The question is, what can it purchase? Is it enough to buy Kevin Love's patience?

If we get Deng or a quality PF and put PJ or Kieff to the bench, would we have the best bench in the league?

It's like we're going extradimensional. We actually intend to stash high-end talent on our D-League squad?

WHAT IS... IS THIS... IS THIS THE NBA???

They still need to sign Wade, UD, and the rest of their team. After all that, I think they will only have about $12 mil left to spend - I think they will use it on Deng.

Can he (Bledsoe) get a max contract from the bucks? Or should I say, do they have the cap space? Reason I ask is, players value money (especially younger players) than they do environment. If the bucks offer Bledsoe max, I don't think he would hesitate signing it.
