Can't we package our 1st round pick with nash ?

Since we got that 1st round pick with the Lin trade we can package that with Nash to clear cap space....

Hell yeah, let Nah deal run it's course. And why do guys want to get rid of an asset not even 1 day old yet ? We'll use the pick as leverage down the line since we don't know when Houston will relinquish the pick, but for now we need to hold it.

Man some of you guys gotta be patient, we're not gonna get back to elite overnight. Too many guys I see sunk all their hopes into this free agency period, our chances for Melo were less than even 50%. It's gonna be a rebuild like it was in the early 90's.

And truth be told in Lakers history, their biggest moves have always been the big trade not free agency. Shaq was the exception to the rule in 96. Even Kobe was acquired in a trade. Free agency won't be our answer to this rebuild. Trying to get draft picks and then striking luck with a big trade.

Be patient fellas.

Sounds like a steal, but we'd likely have to pay his salary anyway.

We took on Lin's salary for that pick. If we package it to get rid of Nash that would put us right back to square one in terms of available cap space.

hold the pick for now ... we might need it in the future ... as for Nash, if he can't play anymore at least he could mentor Lin Clarkson and Marshall ... then he will be gone next year and we have 9M cap space ...

a cap space and a first round pick sounds good to me ...

Nash, Pau, and our Pick from Houston <---> Boozer and McBuckets

They save stretching Nash and get a pick

Can you please explain why we'd want to make this move? I'm a little confused.

Why we would?

Get rid of Nash
Get a third rotation big in boozer who will play
Get good will in the press by doing right by Pau and accommodating the bulls move
Get a quality prospect in McBuckets for Houston's first and second who will grow and develop alongside Randle

That's why we do it.

Chicago does it to get Pau, it's cheaper to stretch Nash than amnesty or stretch boozer, and they get two picks

If we stretch him we still have to pay him for 3 more yrs. It's better to bite the bullet and get it over with and off the books.
