I have an agent for my field (don't worry, I'm not remotely famous). My agent's girlfriend is an entertainment agent at CAA. We obviously spend more time talking about basketball than my own career, and according to him there's a big split at CAA about Melo leaving all that money on the table at NY. Not sure if it's Melo's agent specifically, but there's basically a divide on what he should do. Part of CAA thinks he should take the money, others think he'll be worth more money if he's able to play for a winner.

At the end of the day, I think Melo will do whatever he wants, but part of the hesitation to make a selection could be as a result of the divide in opinion amongst his own reps.

Would the CAA represent him after he retires? Obviously they represent coaches. I'd think they would at least for speaking engagements, meet and greets, and sports analyst. So I'd think winning a ring would also make him more sought after once he retires. Not only could he probably make up the difference in the short term with Nike and other endorsements. He could end up making more in the long term by winning a championship.

Who cares what the Knicks Board members think.

I think it might be a time for a momentum meter update though

You know I always felt like the Knicks should win a championship someday for their long suffering fans. But their fans make it so tough for me to root for them (when the Bulls are out of it of course). They may be panicking because If Melo leaves, they are going to be in full rebuild mode. It may take them years to be a top 4 team in the East again.

Let's think of it this way. With the Cubs, there is a Goat. With the Knicks, there is Spike Lee. Both are cursed.
