Two NBA execs tell me they feel Monroe won't get the max. Teams looking for stretch 4s right now. Both think he will be a Piston this yr.
Maybe someone will give him the max to play center.
So far everything is pointing towards Monroe getting a submax contract. Finally some good offseason news

Monroe will get a max offer. That's been written on the walls since before the offseason started. Its only a question of which team gives it, and there were always going to be multiple possibilities.
And it doesn't matter AT ALL to us which team offers it. The choice is the same: match it or don't match it.
I for one believe we will.
If it were a foregone conclusion that he'd get a MAX deal, is the reason for it taking so long to see if the team that offers him the deal has any assets worth doing a S&T?
Because if the intention is just to match the MAX deal why wouldn't they just offer it to him and get off to a better start relationship-wise?
Because signing him to one now obliterates the 8 mill we have in remaining cap space.
We can use that space and still resign Monroe.
Obviously but don't you think if both parties knew this was going to be the case we would have heard of an agreement by now and then he just waits to sign the deal until we are capped out? My personal opinion is that SVG is waiting to do a s&t for a pg or sf, he has told Monroe this and that he would match if a deal couldn't be struck with the team he signs an offer sheet with. Again.....just my opinion.
