Pistons/Bledsoe Sign and Trade?
A discussion that has been going on a little bit amongst us pistons fans is the idea of possibly trading for Bledsoe using one of our Power Forwards, one of which need to go. This ramped up a little with the news of Isaiah Thomas on his way to Phoenix. We would obviously prefer to move Smith instead of Monroe, as the Monroe/Drummond combination is viewed as having incredible potential together, but after a lot of hesitation i think i would be fine to offer Monroe in a deal for a strong upgrade at PG. This appears to fill a need for both teams.
Would Smith/1st round pick for Bledsoe have any appeal?
I would hesitantly eventually offer Monroe for Bledsoe pretty much straight up.. where would Phoenix stand on that?

I wouldn't trade for Josh smith with Bledsoe but idk what McD would do.
He's been making moves I don't agree with so he might do it.
He's the one with the Gm title not me so what do I know

I have no interest in Smith. He's a bone head and a loser.
I'd consider Monroe for Bledsoe straight up. Seems like it might fill a need for both teams.
Bledsoe's floor is a crippled point guard with no meniscus.
Bledsoe's ceiling is Russell Westbrook
Monroe's floor is Elton Brand post injury
Monroe's ceiling is Elton Brand pre injury
Seems fair to me.

^ Monroe is NOTHING like Brand...Brand was immediately a 20-10 guy with 2blks as a rookie and in his prime a legit top 10 player.
Monroe has a lot of skill and is a great passer for a big man, but he's not a rim protector like Brand was.
If we move Bledsoe for Monroe we're going to need to make a trade for a stretch 4 to play next to him - Ryan Anderson, Teletovic, someone like that so the D can't sag on him. Kieff's not a knockdown 3 guy...yet

Brand killed us in the playoffs with the clippers back in 2006... he scored whenever he wanted. (our defense was terrible... but still, he carried them into the 2nd round - which was crazy for a clippers team back then)

Bledsoe>Monroe. Simple as that. If they both get max, that will just increase the disparity between them, as Bledsoe's deal would be closer to fair. I don't see it happening.

They are actually pretty even.
Both on the same scoring level.
Bledsoe is a average playmaker while Monroe is a good rebounder.
Bledsoe miles ahead on defense though.
It's not bad value considering Bledsoe May get hurt in that 4 year contract.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.
Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Re: Pistons/Bledsoe Sign and Trade?
I'm just not interested in anything the Pistons have... to trade for Bledsoe.
I would be fine offering Monroe a contract, I would be fine giving up a 2nd round pick for him, maybe even the Wolves pick for next year, but I'm not giving up one of our premier back court players for him.

Perhaps the real question is, if Phx decides not to max Bled, and he gets an offer from Miami for the max, would we then (could we?) find another team with assets that we could trade Bled to. I do not know if it is CBA allowed. If so, I think options open up.
JSmoove/1sr or Monroe .... I'll take Monroe, then flip him , Ennis and Two draft picks for Love. Might not wait for Miami on that

We can't keep all these PGs, and everyone knows it. (Well, we could, but it would leave some productive payers on the bench, or we'd be playing Goodwin at PF). But...
Monroe isn't as good as Bledsoe. Not according to PER, or net +/- per 48, and even worse when you look at RPM. Monroe would have to come with something else to make it a fair deal.

If he would prefer to go to Detroit over Miami and Detroit was also willing to give him the max, then it's possible, provided he never actually signs an offer sheet with Miami. Or if we were going to match to avoid losing him for nothing, and he would prefer going to Detroit than coming back to Phx, then it would be possible. Not sure he'd prefer Detroit unless he knew we would be looking to deal him the first chance we could at max money and would want to avoid that. He'd still have veto power on a trade for a year if we match though, and couldn't be traded at all to Miami.

I would entertain the idea of moving Bledsoe to Detroit, but it would start with a S&T Monroe (on a good contract)/Smith/1st.
