Think they are okay. Nick Johnson is Ballin in summer league. They just shed lins salary and replaced him with someone better. I know summer league is not the best baseline to evaluate skill, but he was a high ranked prospect in high school. Rockets will be fine.

The Rockets have a choice. Pay their 3rd banana Parsons or let him go elsewhere. Kind of like the situation the Thunder were in when Harden left. Guys that play good get paid good. NBA law. They couldn't keep the core together for financial reasons.

Can they sign someone like Lance to replace Lin?

We have **** Howard & Harden... far from screwed.
Best hope is for Harden to give a damn on defense and this team will be fine.

Oh, then you are definitely screwed.

Lin averaged as many minutes as Bev and was the only other real playmaker besides Harden, and while Asik was injured most of the season (faking it? idk), without him in the playoffs, Blazers would have swept.

I remember reading adv. Stats on Houston playoff series and only 3 guys had a positive RARP

Howard
Lin
Asik

2 of those guys are gone(both guys count for 7 wins in limited min. In the regular season )

Asik gets to play next to Davis and a solid PG in holiday

Lin gets to put up inflated numbers on a tanking team in this home state

I think it's probably more along the lines of...

And they still have McHale.
:-? :banghead:

Remember, even during the darkest days of Rockets losing streaks, when someone randomly asked if they'd considered firing the coach, the Rox (I forget if it was Morey or Les) said that they didn't believe in changing coaches in the middle of the season, and that old coaches should be given the right to play the season out and that new coaches should be given time in training camp to get things in order.

McHale just had his option picked up this year, when they could have chosen to let his contract expire. Looking like another wasted season and first round exit for the Rockets.

embarrassed but essentially saved from themselves..Bosh wasnt max worthy in Toronto. The lin thing was stupid but they only really lost a late 1st round pick to shed his salary. As a grizzly fan i hope they dont but they need to raid the suns pg glut.

Western conference tougher, McHale as HC, having to share touches with Harden ball-hogging (+ no defense, though I don't really know how much Carmelo cares about others playing defense) and Dwight, possibly Morey's reputation, may have all lead to him not viewing it as real option anymore

Parsons is the most overpaid player in the NBA.

Rockets need to see what is needed to get New Orleans to flip Ryan Anderson back for Asik. Anderson would open the floor up considerably for Howard and Harden.

I have mixed feelings towards this entire thing. My perception of the Rockets team should not be influenced on where I hang out on the Internet but have to admit it does have an impact. When I go to read the Clutchfans forum (which I'm not a member of because the owner is an ass), it makes me want to gloat over the fact that Lin will be in a better place and that Karma is settling in on the Rockets and the miserable fans of that forum.

The RealGM Rockets board however has been my home for the past couple of years and I'm very appreciative of the classy moderators and posters here, even the ones that aren't big fans of Lin. I feel bad for the Rockets fans here and hope that Morey can salvage this.

Fanbase aside, I'm not sure what to think of the future of this organization, guess we'll find out by tomorrow night which direction they'll be heading. They were hinging all their bets on bringing in a big name FA which would have put them right up there even if it means overpaying Bosh and Parsons, it would have been well worth it imo. Now I'm not sure it's even worth matching Parsons.

I think they can still somewhat salvage this if they can trade for Ryan Anderson then match Parsons, only problem will be in the depth department where their bench would be decimated. I think that bringing back McHale was a huge mistake as he will continue to let Harden do whatever he wants. I also think that Karma has set in for Morey and how he has treated the players. The Rockets have a very talented team, seems a bit odd that no stars want to come here...but then again I am not all that surprised.

Howard signed to Rockets not because they can get 50+ win and first round exit. If he is aiming first round exit, he could stay in the Lakers. He is here because he is aiming for a ring. If next season is another first round exit, which is highly likely (all credit to McHale), then Rockets just wasted 2 of his prime year.

Howard's contract is only 4 years with 4th being a player's option. I honestly don't think he will stay after 3 years of going nowhere here.

Yes, west is competitive, but with Asik and Lin on the bench and still exited the first round. Then the problem is not with with the players but the coach. Since the same coach will coach next year, regardless what kind of talent is added, they will not go anyway but exit on the first round. If fortunately, exit at the semi.

Houston can somewhat salvage their off season if they are able to still trade Asik for Anderson maybe and use whatever cap space they have right now to sign someone of importance before they have to match Parsons. They'd still be looking at:

Beverly
Harden
Parsons
Anderson/Jones
Howard

Practically the same team from last year just more money and no bench lol.
