So Boston got Hump, Brooks, Wallace, 3 1st round picks & right to swap 1st rounders with Brooklyn, a Cavs 1st rounder, Thornton (huge expiring deal) & Zeller for Pierce, KG & Jet.

Just in case people don't know, the Celtics used the trade exception they got from the KG & Pierce deal to absorb Zeller & Thornton while getting a 1st rounder from the Cavs.

That Celtics deal looks worse and worse, next thing we'll be getting sold on a youth movement we've decided to go on while we sign and trade Pierce for Bullock & someone with salary to match in LA while KG retires.

Please stop. I cant stand your wining.

Boston also SUCKED last year and will SUCK this year. You conveniently leave that part out.

Nets advanced in the playoffs because of this trade in case you missed Pierce's block in game 7.

Lets be objective and tally the assets you so worry about. Nets have Plumee on a great contract, Bogdanovic, Markel Brown, and now Karasev.

Unlike Boston, we didnt have to sacrifice season(s) in order to do so.

Unlike Boston, we are positioned to make another run this year now that Miami has imploded. We are pretty much bringing back the same team. Except Hollins is an upgrade over Kidd, Jack is an upgrade over Livingston (Especially with Long Ball likely to be dead), Lopez returns to replace Blatche's contribution from last year and DWill finally had surgery and is likely to be the healthiest he's been since joining the team.

Like Boston, we will have cap space in two years when the next wave of free agents are available.

SO WHY DO YOU STILL FEEL THE NEED TO COMPLAIN?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You wine like a women. Cry somewhere else please. BK has done a hell of a job this off season as well as last year when he drafted a top 5 player in the draft at pick #22(Plumlee).

NO the Hawks arent going to finish with a better record then us, nor will Boston so sell that cautionary tale about the right to swap picks somewhere else. You chose to criticize BK still over one bad trade (Wallace) and you are to small of a person to admit he is doing a hell of a job. No GM hits everyone out of the park.

Oh stop it. the KG/Pierce trade is a trade any smart nets fan makes 100 times out of 100 again even with the benefit of hindsight.

Were are we without that trade?

Dwill
Johnson
Wallace
Evans
Plumlee

that teams is in the lottery, and our lottery pick would be going to atlanta, whose pick we would get which would be in the 20's, where according to reports, we probably would have taken markel brown(king had him projected at #22).

instead, KG and pierce played a big part of our turn around, and got us in the playoffs for the second straight year. did we fall short of expectations? yes. was it still better then the alternative? YES!

Also, Pierce might yield us assets in a S&T, so you would need to factor this in as well.

Had we not made the deal, we wouldnt be able to absorb money and give back cap space for zeller/first like boston did because we'd be over the cap and owuldnt have a a TPE.

Also, we got karasev because of trading Terry to the kings for Thornton. so you have to include that on our end

So far, we lost out on james young. i can live with that in exchange for not handing atlanta a lottery pick.

we turned jet into Karasev(#19 first round pick)
we may turn pierce into a first from the clippers.

if so, we would have recouped 2 of the 3 picks we gave up

We won more games in 2012/13 than we did after the super trade. How exactly is it wrong to question that trade now as it seems to look like Pierce and KG could very well have been a 1 year thing. Three 1st round picks and the right to swap 1sts for 1 year of KG and Pierce, are you kidding me?

We got Terry through giving up 3 1st rounders in the Celtics deal. Why would we suddenly go from 49 wins to a lotto team last season if we didn't trade for KG & Pierce?

So we've turned those players into Jack and Karasev so far, with the possibility of something else coming back in a S&T for Pierce and you believe that's a good deal?

Keep Pierce and KG then the deal isn't nearly as bad but to move on after 1 season after giving up assets until 2018 is beyond crazy, I don't see why me thinking this is so wrong because like I said, as things stand we could be looking at Wallace, Hump, Brooks, Bogans, 3 1st round picks and right to swap picks for Karasev and Jack.

Losing Lopez for the season had nothing to do with that?

But again, the Celtics trade could very soon be viewed as big fail. Anyway, I'm down discussion this already.

Robert Windrem?!?!

there is a reason everyone posts over here, and not over there.

Celtics trade was a win, and potentially an enormous win if we

A) make the playoffs again this year
B) turn pierce into a first round pick

The assets the celtics got are beyond overrated

1 non lotto pick
2 projected non lotto picks
took on a top 5 worst contract in the league
took marshon brooks who didnt make a half season and is in the dleague
Bogans might retire and hasnt played

we already recouped one of the first rounders back via terry. we could get the second back with pierce. and we ensured staying in the playoffs during our capped out years with dwill/jj/brook.

hey if you would rather be a horrible lotto team who doesnt get to keep their pick, i guess so. youd fit right in on that other site.

plenty to bash king for.... but sorry, not the trade that maxmized our winning/playoff runs during a stretch where we were cap/taxed out either way and gave up nothing but C assets while dumping one of the leagues worst contracts

Cant believe Im agreeing with you. LOL

no, in fact lopez going down was the only reason we won as many games as we did. had lopez not gotten hurt, i dont think we top 40 wins. we were pretty bad with lopez(7-10, 103 ppg allowed). he was just a bad fit for kidds stlye and his teammates.

lopez isnt a guy you win big with. he is a good player, but he isnt carrying you past the first round. he just isnt good enough defensively and you have to cater your entire team around him to make it work. you need defenders at the other positions and guys who dont need the ball

What the **** are we making a run at?

Dude...everything you speak about is the best case scenario and pure fantasy.

People who are more grounded than you look at Lopez, look at Williams, and don't expect much.

You are banking on LOSERS right now.

I'm just wondering... Since the Cavs were really desperate at the time, and really stuck in finding a team to relieve them off of Jack's salary, if the Nets hold off the deal and asked for more (maybe the Cavs deserve it bcoz if how they screwed us with the Dwight saga), could we have gotten Waiters? I mean Karasev could be a nice player in the future but Waiters, right now, obviously, is a better player. I don't like Waiters' game but he's good. What do you guys think?

i think:

-id rather have karasev. younger, doesnt need big minutes now like waiters would, and cheaper in 2016, which is important.

-i think the cavs would be able to pair waiters with jack, zeller, and a first and not need a 3rd team. if waiters was also involved, boston would take on jack
