What's next for the Cavs? Follow up moves & Roster talk.

Post#1 » by Rise Against » Fri Jul 11, 2014 10:45 pm

So yes, we officially have the best player on the planet. I'm still in shock about it.. I honestly never thought that it was a possibility for LeBron to come back ever.

But the question now is what should the Cavs do next? How can the Cavs trade for Kevin Love? Should we keep Wiggins? Who should we sign? Etc.

I say we stay put right now, maybe sign ray & miller, but we have to chill right now, can't overpay for Love

I hope we can keep wiggins. Lebron + Kyrie + Wiggins for the future will be so much fun to watch. Perimeter defence and open court offence would be insane.

We need a centre badly though. Unfortunately I think we do overpay for love.

that's not a center though, I'd just play tt at center.

I know loves not a centre I'm just saying.

TT at centre would be a disaster defensively. He's a great post defender but we need a rim protector. Where from? No idea.

Stay put and get it done.

Miami could do it without a proper C, so can the Cavs. Plus you got a waaay deeper bench.

Celtics fan here. I was wondering the same thing for you guys.

Irving / Waiters / James / Thompson / Varejao. I assume that's the starting 5. Then Wiggins getting big minutes off the bench. Sign Mike Miller, maybe Chris Andersen or another backup center, and a backup PG. Then you're good to go.

Is it a championship roster today?

Post#9 » by guest81 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 1:35 pm

Let's just keep it as it is

Irving/Waiter/Lebron/Thompson/Verajo

with Bennet and Wiggins off the bench.

Let's just spot the Cavs Ray Allen for now.

The problem with the roster outside of Lebron is a couple things;

None of the players are known for their defense. (Wiggins I know but he's a 19 year old rookie, he won't be ready for NBA players YET)

None are really know for being able to space the floor that works with Lebron (minus Allen)

None are playoff tested

Also pretty big injury concerns. Irving has never played 82 games, and Verajo is never healthy

No way. It is a great young roster, and they could even make the finals, but they would have no chance against the West champion, and i don't think because of experience. I don't think experience matters much when you have Lebron and Blatt, along with Miller and probably Allen, all with years of big game experience. Your young player's current quality level is what won't allow you to win.

They are all years away from their best. Obviously, some trade needs to happen if you don't want to wait 2-3 years, which Lebron - no matter what he said in that letter - clearly won't want to do. I'm not saying you need to trade for Love, but you need another impact player in his prime, preferably a PF or a center.

Defense is a problem, but both Kyrie and Waiters are actually good shooters especially with space.

Well you have to look at what the roster is potentially going to be with the additions of for sure Mike Miller and then likely Ray Ray as well.

Irving/Delly
Wiggins/Waiters/Allen/Harris
James/Miller/Felix
Thompson/Bennett
Varejao/Haywood

Clearly that is a very unbalanced group, but I really do expect the Cavs to get Love for the package that Ive been repeating for some time now. (Bennett, Waiters, Picks)

Irving/Delly
Wiggins/Allen/Harris
James/Miller/Felix
Love/Thompson
Varejao/Haywood

We'll sign another big or two to give us a 4th and 5th big guy, but LeBron will likely play a lot at the 4, especially as he gets older.

Final Result?

Its the best team in the East and gives us a chance.

The thing is, the Wolves could easily get that package at the trade deadline this year so there would be no point for them to do it now.

Doesnt hurt us to wait. We'll just need his rights before next offseason.

It might. Cavs will need to develop a lot of chemistry to stand a chance against a team like the Spurs

Before anything else chances where's our cap at

Post#18 » by kiwibrindle » Sat Jul 12, 2014 2:41 pm

Set for this year:
Anderson Varejao $9,800,000
Kyrie Irving $7,459,924
Anthony Bennett $5,563,920
Tristan Thompson $5,421,233
Dion Waiters $4,062,000
Scotty Hopson $2,450,000
Matthew Dellavedova $816,482
Haywood $2,213,688
James $20,644,400
Wiggins (when he signs ) about $5,600,000
Total 64,013,647

I think

And we have a MLE

So whats our next

S&T of Deng, for some other FA
or just a trade of the young pieces above
or just wait to see what the team looks like for have a year?
Or go over the cap?

We could go over the cap and sign sign unrestricted players like Pau, Melo, etc.
We could sign some LBJ friends from Miami
We could trade come pices for Love

Thoughts?

I would call up Memphis and offer up Waiters and 2 15 first and Miami's 17 first for Gasol. He's a FA next off-season like love and Memphis likely wont be able to resign him. Give them some key rebuilding pieces

Return to Cleveland Cavaliers
