Re: Summer League Game 1: Hornets vs Warriors
I think PJ and Vonleh will be fine. PJ looked awful in the first half but he looked much more settled in in the second half and Vonleh has all the tools, he just has to get his shot to fall

I absolutely hated the way Hairston played in that lone summer league game. I hope this isn't the way he play, not the fact that he missed several open looks, but his style of play --- it's very poor mannish J.R. Smith like with less ball handling skills

I agree he wasnt easy on the eyes today lol, but he is not going to be like JR smith in that he wont shoot you out of games that badly. He is more like Ray Allen mixed with JR Smith. PJ's game is 90 percent shooting but when hes on and finds a rythm everything is clickng. He wll probably be a great 6th man for us. I still would have loved to trade if possible for Hardaway JR tho. But PJ should make huge strides in this summer league, and I think with tme he will develop a veterans inside game.

I'll try to take your word for it as a Tar Heels fan, because even though I think I'm a 'know-it-all'

Lol, dont get me wrong hes no AIR JORDAN TAR HEEL but hes GROUNDED BUS effecient lmao. But he will be an upgrade over Hendo which isnt saying much but its not bad for a 26th pick. I think he will be ok as time goes on. Not our long term answers but enough to get us enthused and not feel so desperate for a 2 guard. I think you will learn to appreciate him but never love him.

Re: Summer League Game 1: Hornets vs Warriors
Post game thoughts:
•Got to put the blame on this one on Zzzeller, he was practically nonexistent.
•McConnell was our 9th pick, right? He looked good. Say what? Oh, chit.
•Josh Davis doesn't have half the athleticism of NV but he played smart and within himself, makes a world of difference
•Yep, that's what PJ on a bad shooting day looks like. No, he won't stop shooting 25' fadeaways either.
•Vonleh is Big Daddy Kane raw. Forced too much. He doesn't have the size or athleticism to beat as many guys 1v1 as he did in college but if he can graduate his skills past basketball 101 he can be a pretty good player.
•Dyson makes Hendo look efficient. Yeesh.

More than his talent being in question, because that was the last of my worries of him as the #26 pick, I think Hairston need to cut all ties with previous friends and become a loner. Sometimes you have to burn bridges, and I wouldn't even call those relations a bridge, moreso a tight rope that's a hazard

Re: Summer League Game 1: Hornets vs Warriors
The shooting was brutal, lets get that out of the way. Also, PJ is having the offense ran for him and Vonleh. He is their focus. Thats not the exact way it will work for him in actual games.
Vonleh's footwork looked great, but if they hit a few less rims (rims are brutal) then their stat lines could look pretty good.
I never get to high or low on these kids in the summer league.

Re: Summer League Game 1: Hornets vs Warriors
In Lebron James' last summer league game he went 2-14 with 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 turnovers.
He was playing against the likes of Steve Blake, Juan Dixon, and Etan Thomas.
I would say Lebron turned out ok.
I do hope they respond next game.

He makes Brandon Jennings look efficient. He only dreams he could shoot like Rookie Kemba. If Dyson just a year-long job as a backup in the NBA, he wouldn't crack 35% from the field. He's a flat-out miserable scorer.

Who?
Must be out of the league. Never heard of him.

One thing about Hairstons game is he is going to shoot whenever he gets any shot available so that should be good for big Al. It would be great of VonLeh can spread the floor for him as well as MKG.

Everything else? Meh. Summer league.
You're getting surprisingly worked up over the stat-keeping of a summer league game.
Pointing out something is not the same as getting worked up. If it is, you're getting surprising worked up over me surprisingly getting worked up over stats in a summer league game.

Re: Summer League Game 1: Hornets vs Warriors
I didn't see much of the game but from here's my assessment of what I did see
Vonleh has good form on his shot, good size, but he doesn't have a high and he didn't play with a lot of energy like the Davis kid did.
Hairston, also doesn't play with much energy on the defensive side of the ball. He is a scorer and he was off game 1, but I didn't see much effort to play tough defense. He was lazy fighting through screens and just didn't give 100% effort like Davis did.
Davis was impressive to me. I saw the box score stats and he ended up with 16 rebounds and double digit points, and he was all over the place. Next game I wanna see the 1st round picks playing like they're trying to impress, with the same intensity Davis had. The missed shots aren't a problem but lack of effort is.
