hornets, mavs and pacers
If he's actually seeking 4 yrs 44 like that article says then we better be all over it
Realistically, I don't think Stephenson and his agent ever expected a deal over $11 million annually via free agency, but right about now I'm pretty sure they're seeking more
Do anybody think Tyreke Evans is on a good/reasonable contract with the Pelicans?

I think Lance would prefer our play style over the Mavs also, grinding and defensive i think Lance likes playing like that, whereas the Mavs play no defense and play uptempo

Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
I think he'll just follow the money. If it's the same between us and the Mavs, I don't think he'll be here.
I'm guessing whoever loses out on Deng will take Lance.
Also don't forget the Heat are just sitting out there too.

Atlanta could be in the mix too. For Lance and Deng, I say it's the other way around. Between the Heat, Mavs, and Hornets, one will take Lance, and one of the others will scoop up Deng. I say we're getting Lance, Dallas gets Deng after Houston matches Parsons. Miami will probably try for someone like Greg Monroe, Evan Turner, or Trevor Ariza, and one of them will go to Atlanta.
Don't forget, Paul Pierce has to go somewhere too. Atlanta?
investigate Adam Silver

I forgot about Atlanta. Mainly because I don't see them in any rumors. Wiretap is saying Rockets are after Ariza and Heat are looking at Deng.

I don't think CHA mgmt want Stephenson. They just drafted Lance JR., 6'6 230# PJ Hairston.

I agree. I don't think Cho want Stephenson. If so, they would've pursued him out the gate instead of following through with what they did a few days ago. Only a act of desperation may change their course
Disclaimer: This is a opinion as you may read words like 'think' & 'may' in between the post. I do not believe that I know for a fact what Cho or anybody in the front office is thinking. Just because my moniker is 'mrknowitall215', that doesn't mean that I think I 'know it all'. It's just a nickname given to me by my ex-girlfriends for putting them in their place in debates a lot

I will confess to being dickish to MKIA about his stance on Lance, but I'll happily be eating crow if we can manage to sign him to a $10M per contract. We'd be making out like bandits given the contracts handed out in this FA market.

Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
Lance probably would have been option A over players like Hayward, Parsons, etc. if it wasn't for his character. Not that you can take that out of the equation, but we should be all over him. I think our locker room and Clifford could handle someone like Lance and his play on the court would trump his antics. Having him and PJ on the same team might not be the best idea but to be competitive in the Eastern Playoffs we have to take this gamble.

Both the Hornets and Mavericks have their misgivings on Stephenson, of course. Though he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists last season, concerns about his maturity, on and off the court, remain. That is the main reason that Stephenson hasn’t gotten the type of offer — a four-year, $44 million deal similar to what Tyreke Evans received from New Orleans last summer — he has been seeking.
Still, Stephenson is an exceptional all-around talent who is only 23 years old. The Hornets have been looking to sign a young, star-level perimeter player to go with Al Jefferson inside, and they knew that landing Hayward was a longshot. The Mavericks have a need on the wing, too, with Vince Carter leaving the team in order to sign with Memphis.

Happy to hear that.
I'd rather trade for a possibly busted Eric Gordon than make Lance a multi-millionaire.

Also says that were more than likely going to pursue him, though.

there's a big difference in getting him after a bunch of other options fail and making him the #1 end-all priority of the offseason
the fact that the FO isn't willing to wager everything on him right out the gate is a relief

I like the Eric Gordon option. His huge contract and questionable fit in New Orleans makes him acquirable. Something along the lines of Byombo and Henderson could possibly get him and his contract is only one more year after this so its not all that bad. He'd be a really good fit here providing 3 point shooting and a third scoring option to go with solid defense plus the high upside potential if he got back to the way he played 2 years ago.

I'd take it over the deal for the guy that uses Eric Gordon's last name as a first name, that's for sure, but the only thing that give me pause about acquiring Gordon is that 2nd year on his contract. If it was a expiring contract, I wouldn't mind taking the nosedive and exhausting his contract from the Pelicans, but you combine that 2nd year with his proneness to injury, and I'm very reluctant to consider it
...but I wouldn't mind Tyreke Evans if the Pelicans were willing to trade him for Gerald Henderson or Gary Neal as part of the deal

Re: The Lance Stephenson Thread
Agreed, Gordon is so injury prone. I'd be very hesitant in any trade for him. Especially since it's 2 more years.

Don't count out the teams that want Ariza.
Dallas and Houston seem to have their list as:
Parsons
Ariza
Deng
Stephenson
Now is the time to go all out for Lance imo.

Ariza signed with the Rockets today. Not sure if they still have the room to match for Parsons, but it looks doubtful.
