Agreed. WTF? Surely he was worth $8M. Or did Ariza insist on $8.5M a year from us since the taxes are higher? Either way, this is frustrating. I wonder if we were actually willing to pay $8M as well. Maybe Ariza just wanted to get out of here.

9.5 mil would have been my limit....the only thing I can think of is maybe years...4 years is fine for Ariza. Honestly, I hope it is just that he didn't WANT to be in DC, I can take that...I can't take the notion EG didn't offer him the same, if not slightly better contract. The only silver lining is that, maybe, this suggests that there is a long range plan. Part of me is happy to see EG being willing to walk away from a negotiation rather than sign a bad deal. Maybe EG really thinks that Durant in 2016 is viable and he didn't want Ariza on the books.

I will go apesiht if we turn around and sign a collection of scrubs for the MLE on contracts longer than 2 years. That would suggest an utter lack of any coherent plan.

U can't draft Porter and then sign TA to 4 years especially since dimwitt never plays him at the 4. It makes no sense. U drafted him now ride with him. He's a local star too. The fans will love him

Ariza left because he didn't feel appreciated. He just left for half of what EG and Ted couldn't even wait to pay Gortat.

He was lowballed and I am glad Ariza signed elsewhere.
