Much disrespected by the fans at the tail end of his time here, without him the Lakers don't have two titles and 3 trips to the finals post shaq. Hope to see his jersey retired at Staples Center one day.

Should have been traded in 2011 for Chris Paul.

Nothing personal, Gasol was a great player in his prime. But life would be great with a Paul-Kobe-Howard combo right now.

One of my all time favorite players. Definitely happy for him though, he gets an opportunity to compete for another time.

Doesn't make sense to me. You sacrifice money to play for a team that won't be close to contending. Only two teams in the East last year would've had a good enough record to have a playoff berth in the West. Why not take similar money and go to a legit contender like SA or OKC?

Thanks for the back 2 back championships. Going to be weird seeing him in a Bulls jersey. I hope the Laker fans give him a standing ovation when he returns to Staples Center.

I will never forget finding out the day when the Lakers got Gasol. I was ecstatic! The nights at the sports bars watching the Lakers go back to the finals and win a couple more championships. Then came the frustrations when I wish he would of went to the rim little harder, the trade rumors, but overall Pau handled it professionally even when things got bad. He is such a class act. I am going to miss him. Good luck with the Bulls Pau!

I would have liked to see Kobe finish his career with Pau... But it sounds like we tried... And frankly, I'd have been a little freaked out had he accepted our best offer... So good for you Pau... Best wishes...

And Bye.

We are in full rebuild mode gentlemen.. We should have gotten an asset for him and it doesn't look like that is the case here,
Who is out second option? Kobe to NY doesn't sound bad if we can strip assets but it would be a PR nightmare for JB... More than it is now

I wouldn't bet against the Bulls making a serious run in the playoffs if Rose stays healthy. Its a big if, but at least the potential is there. If rose is healthy, that team is going to the finals imo.

It's one thing if the Bulls had cap room and paid him significantly more but it doesn't make sense when OKC/SA are proven and can pay him a similar amount. There are too many variables involved. Even if Rose stays we don't know if he'll ever be the same. And the East is wide open because it really sucks. Whoever gets out the East next season is going to get demolished by the West winner.

Good luck Pau!
A great basketball player who was proud to be a Laker.
He helped us win two rings and was a great compliment to Kobe.
I thought we offered him a very good deal(almost too good), but he did not take it.
He and Noah are going to be a great frontline. Two of the best passing bigs in the league.
